Description

JUMPIN’ UNION JACK FLASH

This Lockhart Philips USA Triumph Turbo project bike was commissioned by Triumph America and Lockhart-Philips in 2002. The bike was custom built from the ground up in a new frame to maximize performance in all areas of handling, cceleration and braking. This was a professional custom build by some of the top motorcycle builders in the US. The end result is astounding. As stated in the magazine article this bike will yank the mirrors off an R1 or a GSX-R1000. The turbo has two settings "Mild" and "Wild". I own a retired AMA GSX-R Superbike from the Jordan team and the Triumph Turbo is noticeably faster in a straightaway. Cycle World measured the rear wheel at 177 HP / 116 foot-pounds of torque and I'm told the power was fine tuned and further increased at a later date. (see article)

This Turbo Triumph was featured in the March 2002 Cycle World magazine and developed a worldwide following. It has been on display at the Luguna Seca Moto GP, ndy Trade Show and many California Sportbike events. The bike has 4360 careful miles and has been ridden by Dan Gurney, rian Catterson, endell Phillips (of Lockhart-Phillips) and Triumph executives. The incredible paint design and application was done by well known California Moto-artist Aaron Hager, on of rock legend Sammy Hagar.

The bike has the best of everything: Phillips enlisted Will Tate of the California Speed Shop to co-ordinate the build. Tate brought in Brian Olson of Turbo Connection for the turbo-charge engineering and components; the custom Turbo Connection exhaust is finished off with a very cool custom tri-tip end cap. Aesthetics were improved with a single sided swing arm.Suspension improved with afour-point shock linkage, riple-clamps and rear sets all from Attack Racing based on their experience racing Daytona’s in AMA Pro Series. Penske shock, aceTech modified fork with Progressive springs, ltra light Marvic Penta magnesium wheels, rembo front brakes, ustom billet parts and every carbon-fiber component from the Lockhart-Phillips Catalog. See the Cycle World (attached in listing) article for more detail.

The Tate-designed “Cadillac” tail-fin with LED is a work of art. Finishing everything off is the Union Jack paint scheme by Aaron Hagar depicting the Union Jack which seems to be liquefied at the front, isplayed in full on the tank and fragments towards the aft end as it turns into a checkered flag.

The bike has been stored in a climate controlled space and is nearly perfect. There are minor professional paint touch-ups below wheel height on the lower right fairing that don’t show in photos but a concourse judge would find them. Bike has brand new Dunlap Sport-Max tires. Also included in the sale is an original copy of Cycle World magazine with the article.
