Description

Up for bid is my 1957 panhead chopper. The last thing I want to do is sell this bike but I have an opportunity to expand my shop space. I'd just as soon sell my left you know what but I don't think ebay would let me list it. So all joking aside here we go. This is an authentic 1957 panhead chopper ! The real McCoy! The bike is built out of mostly OEM genuine Harley parts. With the exception of the tranny case. The rachet top and innards are OEM. the rear drum brake and all innards are OEM as well. Front forks are shaved early 70s sporty I believe 39 millimeters. That have four over fork tubes by Frank. 2 piece stainless sporty bars with OEM horn button. OEM waffle grips insignia is worn but still visible. OEM cloth back floorboard rubbers mounted to OEM floorboards. 1948 OEM frame that has been raked and smooth out. Clean nice work on the frame. No cracks or re- welds on frame or frame motor mounts. Paint on the frame isn't perfect anymore but still in good shape. Paint on tank and fender is fresh and almost show quality. Tank is a modified sporty tank modified by yours truly. I raised the deck on this tank 1 inch. added a brass ventilator cap and then raised ridge down the back for that cool Frisco look. And added A 20 millimeter bullet shell sleeved external petcock bung. All welds were TIG welded on the tank nice work not full of bondo! Plus tank has a 3 bolt mounting system which will not jiggle loose on long rides or ever for that matter! Passenger pegs are one cherry and one Andersen and are identical to each other. The motor is a 1957 pan and has a clear Illinois title in my name. Titled as a Harley Davidson not a reconstruction. The right side case on the motor is OEM the left side case is aftermarket. The left side case does however have the VIN number laser etched into it professionally. The heads and cam cover are OEM as well as many of the internals. This motor is stroked with 80 inch flywheels balanced plus or minus 1 gram S&S style balance. Motor has a 104 Sifton cam and lightened circuit breaker and idle gears. Good runner! Good starter one or two kicks! Runs like a bat outta hell! Bike has a Primo belt drive and Barnett clutches . Bike is powered by small alternator unit which has a newer style regulator. A Morris magneto provides Sparks & has a brand new coil & condenser.  I installed a battery eliminator inplace of the battery. although you could bring it back to a battery system by simply putting a battery back in it. as it is wired for both.  This electrical system is bulletproof and will not let you down. This bike is reliable and capable of hanging with the new bikes when it comes to reliability. This bike is not a show queen it's meant to be ridden and will stay together on long halls! I have beefed up many mounting brackets such as a 5 point Mounting bracket on the sissy bar. So your ol' lady can feel perfectly safe kicking back on the sissy bar! I used skateboard truck bushings to mount passenger pegs stands to transmission plate to relieve friction on plate and passenger stand. So it does not vibrate your ladies feet off the pegs! I tig welded 3/16s plate steel to a brand new tranny plate where peg stand mounts to tranny plate for added strength. as I have had them bust on me before! I made a battery box /oil tank /fender mounting bracket out of quarter inch steel that bolts indiscreetly to back of frame crossover which strengthens fender for passenger seat and battery/oil bag mounts. This bike is as roadworthy as they come! All work that I have done is clean and not half assed! And will outlast any of that Taiwanese crap even better than OEM! Bike does leak oil but that's the nature of the beast! Also has brand new brake linings & brakes well. as well as a brand new rear tire.  As bad as I need some new shops space I will not let this bike go if I don't get what I want out of it! I don't have a crazy unrealistic reserve on the bike like some I see. But I'm not going to let the bike go dirt cheap either so don't try to lowball me! Bike is for sale locally and I do have the right to end this auction early if I need to. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required via PayPal at auctions end. With full payment required 3 days of auction's end. Ask about other payment options. If you have any questions about the bike feel free to ask! call (309)-351-3520 Thanks Dan
