Aprilia Pegaso 650ie ( Project )Aprilia Pegaso 650ie ( Project ). The reason the bike is in pieces is that the head gasket went at just 8700 miles. Unfortunately this is a common problem with the rotax engine. Just check out the forums. Apart from that these engines are bullet proof. The bike ran fantastic before this apart from a noisy sprag clutch when starting although the bike was starting fine before being layed up. Again this is another common problem with this engine. Anyway i stripped the bike down and removed the engine and replaced the head gasket. The job was done properly with both mating surfaces being thoroughly cleaned and the head torqued down to the correct specs. The mono shock was discarded as it was shot and not rebuildable. This is how the bike stayed for quite a while. The frame was kept outside covered. The engine has been stored inside since removal and the panels are stored in the loft. I eventually bought a second hand mono shock which turned out to be the wrong one after being told it was the correct one for my bike but was actually for an older model and i eventually sold it on and just have never got round to buying another so everything's been on hold ever since and as i don't have the need for a bike anymore and not wanting the hassle of putting it all back together it's up for sale. As you can see in the photos the paintwork on the panels is very good with only some minor scuffing to the fairing and a few tiny chips on the tank. The bike will look great when it's all back together. I did do some rubbing down to the lower part of the frame and stand and then used black hammerite which looks really good. A few negatives as there always are. As mentioned there's no shock but you should be able to source a good cheap used one. Noisy sprag clutch as mentioned above but was still starting ok. One of the exhausts where it joins to the header pipe is rotting a bit because unfortunately where i stored the exhausts in the shed there was a leak in the roof so part of the exhaust was in water but most owners change these rubbish mild steel oem pipes for stainless steel pipes anyway. You could probably improvise a piece of metal tubing as a joiner anyway as it's only really the tip of the pipe. In the photos i forgot to include the rear wheel and fuel injection unit but these will come with the bike. Also one of the exhaust studs will need replacing as the thread on the stud was damaged during the header pipe removal as the nuts were really tough to remove. The thread in the block is fine. The bike has a solalarm fitted with 2 x keys and fobs. Owner manual and V5 present. Will also supply all technicians manuals on CD which go into absolutely everything. Well i think that's about it. Please be aware that this is being sold as spares or repairs for obvious reasons but i can't see any reason why the bike won't run when it's all back together. just that i can't guarantee this. Obviously it goes without saying that it needs to be assembled properly but the supplied manuals should make it pretty straight forward. Please also be aware that there may be some screws missing or need replacing. i can't be one hundred percent sure. Just being honest. Will also need a new battery but as far as i am aware everything else is here. Can't think of anything else. Cash on collection only. You will need a fair sized van to ferry everything away. Happy to answer any questions. Thanks for looking and happy bidding
