Hi and welcome to this auction for my much loved Aprilia Pegaso 650. As you can see from the pictures it has had lots of time and money spent on it and is totally unique. I bought this bike in 2010 in standard trim and set about rebuilding it almost immediately. It rode really well with no issues and had covered 23. 00 miles. It did however have a very small oil leak which prompted the rebuild. As the bike is built around the engine it's not possible to just remove the engine so while I had it stripped down I thought I may as well go the whole hog! The engine was sweet and didn't really warrant a rebuild but I believed the oil leak to be coming from the cylinder base gasket so I replaced this. I also measured the valve clearances and they were all spot on apart from one being very very slighty out so this was changed for a genuine Aprilia part. The carbs were fully cleaned and a few of the rubber O rings were replaced around the floats. All of the frame parts. footpegs. swingarm etc. were all sandblasted and powder coated. Every single part was meticulously cleaned before replacement. All the rear suspension linkage bearings were replaced with genuine Aprilia parts. Brakes fully rebuilt including new EBC pads (the rear master cylinder is a little spongy but I have an exact Brembo replacement to supply with the bike - still works fine though). Front fork and dust seals changed and rebuilt with fresh oil. Exhaust gaskets changed. The bike had the Arrow stainless steel exhaust fitted when I bought it. this has a wonderful sound! Quite loud but not ridiculous. All body parts sprayed in nimbus grey. not a pro job but looks good. crazing a little in places. It has wide 830mm bars with new grips. new hand guards and new mirrors from an Aprilia Dorsoduro. The front mudguard was changed for a high level Acerbis item and a little hugger made out of the original mudguard. I've fitted LED strip lights inside the light housing just to give it a slightly more contemporary look (one or two of the LEDs have expired now). The rear mudguard/light monstrosity was ditched in favour of a nice Acerbis unit with bright LED light and Oxford metal cased LED indicators which are very bright and excellent quality. The rear end is finished off with a nice pressed alluminium euro style number plate (original supplied too). The oil was changed for Silkolene super 4 and a new filter fitted. Since the rebuild it's only been out in dry weather and is only at 25644 miles so it's only done around 2600 miles in the last 4 years and has always been garaged. I've just recently changed the oil again. fitted a brand new chain and 2 new Dunlop trailmax Tyres which still have all the moulding bobbles on them so will need wearing in. Since this last oil change I noticed the clutch slip very slightly when accelerating in the highest gear. my MOT tester said it might be something to do with a different type of oil soaking into the clutch and should subside with regular use. it's just not getting used enough. The reason I'm selling the bike is that I've bought a house and need every penny I can get. Also it still has the oil leak which I can't seem to find and I just don't have the time to pull it apart again. It in no way affects the rideability of the bike but it will need sorting if you intend to do longer journeys. I used to stuff a paper towel in where the oil collected to soak it up. It's taxed until the end of August 2015. MOT'd until 05/09/2015 and is ready to ride away but I think you'll have to sort your own tax due to the new law. Log book. old MOTs. original booklets and loads of receipts supplied along with the original number plate. wing mirrors etc. Feel free to ask any questions. Viewing and inspection welcome and encouraged. UK bidders only and cash on collection please. Happy bidding!
On 09-Oct-14 at 08:57:46 BST. seller added the following information:Just to clear up any confusion. the oil leak is not so bad that the level needs to be checked every journey. It can be ridden for hundreds of miles before needing a top up. I just use the paper towels to stop the bike getting too messy. The oil has spoilt the paint on the engine a bit. it was sprayed with normal silver engine paint so can be redone easily when the leak has been cured.
