1972 Benelli 250 sport

1972 Benelli 250 sport which is best described as an unfinished project. Bought from a friend who left it untouched in his workshop for a number of years. Fitted with an engine from an earlier model the bike has not been run for many years. The original wiring will need attention or replaceing as it is not in great condition. I have started the engine which smoked initially but was not left running long due to the state of the wiring so may need some tinkering but can be heard running. There are the remains of what is thought to be the original engine included in the sale. this has parts missing so should be treated as spares rather than a complete engine. It's quite an attractive bike but has a couple of cosmetic issues the worst being the chrome on the fork stanchions. All the alloy castings are very clean & bright. the exhaust is good but not immaculate. the wheels have been rebuilt & fitted with new tyres/tubes. mudguards are very clean (stainless). the seat is very good (newish cover fitted). newish mph speedo fitted presumeably to replace a kph one. The black paint is very good. the green is reasonable with a few chips etc. A couple of small parts i can see missing are the rev counter cable & the bulb holder from inside the rear light unit. Please be aware this is not a bike to be ridden without time & possibly money spent tinkering/finishing off before use. Will need to be UK registered. If in any doubt just ask or better still take the time out to come & view before bidding (10 day auction). Any sensible offers will be considered.
