Description

I have had this bike in my collection for about 10 years now. I have ridden it on the street a couple times. It is a extremely rare Tri Colore race kit bike. The wheels and exhaust were refinished a few years ago. It has a set of street tires. I took off the factory slicks (i might still have them in the attic) The bike had a belt service in 2012 and has done maybe 150 miles since then. I'm not sure how many miles are on the bike because there is no speedo. but in my 10 year ownership I rode it three times. Probably got to do the belt again to be safe if your are going to ride it. The body is in nice shape. ever crashed or dropped just a few small chips from moving it around the last 26 years. The first production ducati desmoquattro was the 851 of 1988. with four-valve desmodromic cylinder heads. liquid cooling and weber marelli electronic fuel injection. only a small number of tri-colore 851 kit bikes were produced during 1988. the 851 superbike kit was the homologation model for world superbike racing and approx 20 came to the United States for AMA Superbike racing. the tubular steel frame was derived from the f1 with an aluminum swing arm and a rising rate linkage rear suspension. the wheels on the 851 superbike kit are 17 inch racing magnesium. these bikes came with an electric start. headlight and taillight. the brakes are full floating brembo. I guarantee you will be the only TrI Colore Kit Bike if you show up at your local ride in or race track. For any of you that went to the Ducati Exhibit in Boston last year this was the bike on the display. It will certainly be a great addition to your Ducati collection and the chance to get one of these does not come up often. I am selling it because I have 160 motorcycles and i can't even move around in my garage anymore. This bike was buried behind 20 others and It's just a shame for it not to be enjoyed and treasured. I'm going to sell off about 50 bikes in the next few months. So if you have any SUPERBIKE you are looking for hit me up with a email at bocco1@optonline. net I probably have one or two. My collection is from 1978 to current. Lots of Bimota's. Ducati's and a ton of the Japanese Homogalation specials. You can call me also at 1-203-515-5146. I'm not interested in any trades. I will ship this bike anywhere in the United States for an additional fee of $500 on top ofthe winning bid. It will go with Daily Direct. They have shipped over 100 bikes for me and I always have been happy with their service. There is no reserve and I have started the bid at $25k I f you are a Ducati collector don't miss out on this opportunity. Not in the photo that the rear tail light cover is off. It is back on these photos were from last summer. If you want some recent photos just send me a email and I'll send you the ones I'm going to take today. The story I have been told by Eraldo Ferracci is the seat defect is from a hot Expresso maker that someone at the factory placed on the mold before they started production. In any case the two other Tri Colore Kit bikes I have seen have the tell tale ring. There was only 207 units hand built of this bike and they are basically a factory race bike with a output of 120hp and not actually road legal in this trim.
