Description
1980 Bimota SB3 #187 of 402 with spare factory fairing
Texas bike that has been ridden/enjoyed over the years. The bike has some wear from use which is listed below. The only upgrade is period correct Keihin CR 31 smoothbore carburetors, yna S ignition, nd fresh coils. Wheels were powder coated in 2006. Bike comes with a spare fairing as the builder of the bike planned to use it as a race bike but never ended up doing it. Bike has been very well maintained and always stored indoors. Spent a good deal of its life on display in my living room and never operated in the rain. The only water she has seen is from occasional washes. Im minimizing my number of motorcycles and this is one of the last to go. No need to describe how special this bike is, ts heritage, r rarity as folks who would bid already know. Feel free to contact me with any questions as I love talking about this bike and am happy to share all information about her and share specific photos. I welcome serious buyers to examine the bike in person in Houston, exas.- Slight rash on right side fairing pictured from garage tip over. (damn auto retract sidestand)
- Some rock chips in paint of forks from road use as pictured.
- Paint issue around fuel cap.
- Left fairing is shows bubbling under the paint. Use the never used spare fairing while this is sent for repair.
- Turn indicator on one side of spare fairing was broken during storage.
- Powder coating on front right wheel center has come off as pictured.
- Odometer does not work as no speedo sending unit is installed. Needs the proper speedo sending unit from a Suzuki donor bike. Currently a spacer is installed.
- Swingarm under rear shock mount is missing some powdercoating and shows surface rust.
- Bike is sluggish between 4500-6000 rpm but will hit redline in top gear. Checking timing shows proper advance so likely a carb tuning issue which could be resolve on the dyno. Have not taken time to address as the bike is rarely used.
- Upper fairing has a slight crack on the left side near the petcock. Was like this from my first meeting the bike 25 years ago and has not grown.
- Petcock has been rebuilt. Does not use vacuum from carbs to operate so should be switched on and off and likely cause of above mentioned crack.
- Recent replacement of coils, ires, nd upgrade to Dyna S ignition module.
- No oil leaks.
