BMW R80rt 14/1/1983 low mileage, lovely condition, mot history back to 87

My BMW R80 rt complete with all usual BMW fitments Panniers. Clock. Voltmeter. Crash Bars etc.

I will try to give an honest appraisal of all the good and not so good points just as i would expect if i was buying a bike.

I am not a dealer just a genuine enthusiast

I have owned it for approx. 3 years. i bought it to tour europe when my Honda unexpectedly required some unforseen work at short notice and wasn't sure if it would be ready

It is a totally originally bike in very good condition thats never been messed around with in all its 32 years. just usual maintenance and added touring extras. The paintwork is original so has a few age related wear marks. but overall very good

The bike shows 13000 mile on the new clock which the last but one owner had fitted some years ago.   The old clock failed at approx. 17000 miles. i have all the past MOT's to show and document this (see pics). So the bikes done approx. 30000 mile

Engine and gearbox perform just as a BMW should. controls. switches. nbsp;and everything else works just as they should and a lovely comfortable ride

Wheels were powder coated silver by last owner

I am only selling this bike because it was a toss up between this and my Honda Deauville and which one unfortunately has to go. the Deauville only won because i have owned it for the past 15 years from new  and in just as good condition and couldn't bear to part with. There both equally as good tourers. commuters or pleasure riders in my view

If your not a fairing lover. fairly easily the fairing can be removed and stored for future sale. you would just need a couple of indicators etc. to have a very good. genuine. low mileage naked BMW 

Since owning the bike its had

Hein Gerricke Heated Grips and Control fitted

12 volt Power Outlet fitted

More than regular engine oil and filter changes as with all my bikes

Rear Drive. Drive Shaft and Gearbox Oil Changed recently

Air Filter change

Throttle Cables

Clutch Cable

Carbs cleaned with new seals and new diaphrams and synchronised

Valves adjusted

Rear Wheel splines cleaned and lubed

Audible Indicator warning ( not everyones taste but easily disconnected. it certainly reminds you if indicator left on)

Centre Stand Pivots re-bushed and Steel pads neatly brazed to feet because of 32 years of use

Its got V5 in my name and address. Taxed and MOT'd till May. new law says tax stays with me. and if your apprehensive about only 3 months MOT. i would be prepared time permitting to get it re-mot'd for 12 month as i am sure it will sail through.

If i was to keep the bike the things i would do is

Side Stand it stills works okay but again 32 years of use means some play in pivot or bush

The Centre Stand needs a coat of black paint  from the bush and feet repair . i will do this if i get time but can't promise

The front tyre is still okay but will need changing probably sooner rather than later depending on your mileage

Oh and the nearside pannier has a slight damage on top corner from previous owner. he filled it. see pic. just trying to be up front with everything

I offer no warranty just a genuine description as it is a classic 32 year old bike. so I would recommend viewing as everyone's perspective on condition is different. but i think i can safely say you won't be dissapointed. just i as i wasn't when i bought it. i snapped it up. and i'm "fussy"

I have an agreed value on my insurance so i am sorry no test rides even if you have your own insurance. if you really need a test ride it will have to be pillion. which i don't mind

Cash on pick up or Bank Transfer prior to pick up only (NO PAYPAL unless done as a "gift" because of charges. if you really want standard paypal please add the charges) Pick up within a few days otherwise a deposit of ?100 please

If anyone is struggling to pick up. i may be able to borrow a neighbours trailer and may be prepared to deliver up to a 50 to 60 mile radius of my postcode for 75 pence per return mileage or may be able to ride the bike to you for a car ride home. Payment in full first though.

Or i can pick you up from Chesterfield train Station and you ride home. obviously you will need to sort your insurance out etc beforehand. Please contact first for any of above as my father is poorly and never know for sure where i am with his care from day to day.
