BMW R1100R ABS 1995 – Low Mileage
For sale is a BMW R1100R ABS model. I bought this just before Christmas with the intention of using it to commute up and down the country as I work in the rail industry and I can get sent just about everywhere. It was also to be used for my wife to ride when we go on touring holidays with the children but it is a bit too big for her. Whilst the R1100R wasn't my first choice (I’m an Italian bike fan) the bike was in such amazing condition that I couldn't resist. However. because it is in such good condition I am spending ages getting it clean (every time I come home from a work trip away and before it goes in the garage) and keeping it in the condition that I bought it in.
Since Christmas I have covered over 3500 miles. in all weathers. on the bike and it is still looking amazing. It is basically a bog standard R1100R with two options of seat (low and high). Everything works but the ABS continues the BMW tradition of not activating first time on cold morning (and there have been some phenomenally cold mornings). I suggest that you read up about it if it worries you as it is a known issue with early oilhead BM’s. The best cure is fitting a Hawker Odyssey battery but as the one on the bike is a perfectly good BMW issue Exide and I couldn't face binning it.
The mileage is 23. 04 but this will increase as I am using it daily for some quite long commutes. He paint on the tank. panels. frame and engine (surprisingly enough) is in tip top condition. The engine has just been set up and balanced by RGM motorcycles in Croston and runs fantastically. It is fitted with a Givi Monokey pannier rack and has both BMW Panniers. The heated grips both work and it has BMW handguards fitted. The toolkit and puncture outfit are both still under the seat and the bike sports BT021 tyres. Front about 20% worn and the back about 50% worn. The ‘Secdem by Bullster’ front screen keeps the worst of the wind blast off but is a bit of a barn door which effects fuel consumption if you are pushing on a bit into the wind.
The raised seat (about 40mm) was re-covered by Tony Archer Seats and he does a fantastic job at a good price. The lower seat is similar styling to a Corbin but is only a replica. It is MOT’d until May 2015 and there is lots of history with the bike. The oil and filter was changed on the 5th March 2015.
It is a superb example of this great model but I need something that is a little less pristine and that I can actually avoid feeling duty bound to wash every time I get home from a trip. and sometimes even when I’m staying away!
Remember that you are bidding to buy and not to come and try and haggle. Payment by cash or bank transfer cleared before the bike leaves my house. I can deliver up to 30 miles for free or further at ?1 per mile (one way). Anything over 100 miles and you’d be better sorting out a bike courier. The reserve is set at what I paid for the bike and all my friends reckoned I had a complete steal when I bought it give its low mileage and great condition.
I would obviously recommend that you make an arrangement to see the bike before you bid. Just message me and I will get back to you. Just to avoid all the daft emails. I will not end the auction early and I am not desperate to sell so no stupid offers of a swap for a can of Pepsi and a packet of Cheesy Wotsits!
