For sale is my 1983 BMW R100 RS. It has recently undergone a full strip down and rebuild. New stainless steel nuts and bolts throughout. all new fairing fasteners. freshly powder coated wheels and hub/rear drive. Frame is in great shape. paint is very good for a 30 year old machine. it’s not perfect. but is very nice. This is the 1981+ model year bike with the associated upgrades over the previous model. Rear disc brake. improved brakes up front. plastic airbox etc. The bike had a ?1050 full service in December with all new fluids. rebuilt carbs. new brake fluid. seals. new progressive fork springs. wheels blast cleaned and powder coated back to like new condition with brand new tubes and tyres. Many other things were done too. all at a specialist airhead service centre in Cambridge. I could still do with a nice fresh pair of rocker covers to just finish it off. I've not got around to buying those yet. The sale includes two seats. bear in mind that real SOLO seats like this one can sell for upto ?600 alone. Also included is a pair of original Sigma panniers and the racks for those. which were a dealer accessory at the time and considered an upgrade from the Krauser cases. Many tools and spare parts are also included along with the pair of leatherette fairing bags which are quite hard to find these days. They fit down the insides of the front fairing and are about 15 litres each. very handy storage. Original tool kit. tyre pump and lock are also present. as is the underseat box and rubber lid. The bike also comes on it's original number plate which must be worth a few quid too. especially to a BSA fan. It's BSA 120Y. In total I'd say that nearly ?3000 has been spent on this bike by me and the previous caring owner over the last couple of years. Please bear this in mind before messaging me to say that I've overpriced the bike. as a few people kindly did last time I listed it. These 'post '81' RSs are getting harder to find in good condition. It's a seriously long winded job to strip the bike down and rebuild it with new nuts and bolts. The price is fair considering the work that's been done to it. The only negative about the bike - the original clock doesn't seem to work. I have had it out and can see some movement on the second hand. but it'll either need reconditioning or replacing. Bike is garaged and lives at CB8 9RU. 3 miles south of Newmarket on the Cambs/Suffolk boarder. Happy to arrange viewings whenever suits. Thanks for looking. feel free to ask questions or call me to arrange a viewing. This one is too good to be chopped into a Cafe Racer!!Happy to receive offers. but feel the bike should be viewed prior to sending me lowball eBay offers. thanks. NB. I'm happy to sell this bike without the additional SOLO / SPORT seat for ?3995ono if the buyer is not bothered about having it. I'm sure it would sell for ?500 or more on its own. If you want both seats. the price is ?4495ono as previously advertised. Edited to add ------Quick note to say that I took the bike out for a run yesterday (Saturday 7th March) in the sunshine and added 70 miles on. so the odo now reads nearly 31. 00 miles. A wonderful ride it was too! I'm starting to think I should just keep her for the occasional sunny ride out.
