This is a 1975 BMW R75/6. It's blue. It's really quite beautiful. though it's by no means a concours bike. I have owned the bike for around two years. My roommate bought it from an older gentleman about four years ago. rode it for about a year. and moved across the country. so he sold it to our other roommate. That roommate rode it maybe three times in the year he owned it. and when he moved up North he sold it to me. I hadn't ridden it a single mile in the last two years until finally getting it back on the road in August. Since we first bought it from the older gentleman in 2010. it's had maybe 2500 miles put on it in total. I estimate. based on what I was told by the older gentleman and what we've ridden. that the bike has around 50. 00 miles on it. though the odometer wasn't working at the time. When the instrument cluster was rebuilt last year it was wound to 99984. so it's about to flip over to "00000". As for history. I really don't know much before 2010. when my roommate bought it. I do know that the previous owner did a few notable things to it:- Rebuilt master cylinder. caliper. and brand new BMW front brake hose (Early 2010). - STAINLESS SPOKES front and rear. re-packed & shimmed bearings (Early 2010). - Pro-Grip Grips Installed (Early 2010). - New Bridgestone Spitfire S11 Tires (Early 2010). - Installed super-duper high bars (Since reverted to Euro "S" bars)- Seat re-foamed and re-covered as a "tall boy" seat. Switched to non-hinged seat attachment (hinges included in the bag of extra parts). Since I've owned it I've done a bunch of little maintenance items to get it back up to snuff (neither of my roommates was very mechanically inclined). You can see a list of repairs below:- Speedo Cable - Transmission Boot Repl. 12/18/2010- Engine. Gearbox. Driveshaft. Final Drive Fluids Repl. 3/26/2011- MAC Whispertone Mufflers Installed Mid-2011- Instrument Cluster Rebuilt by WireSpokes in Oregon Mid-2012- Oil Filter. OIL PAN GASKET. Gearbox Fluids Repl. 8/13/2012- Petcocks Rebuilt 6/10/2013 (SEE "ISSUES" BELOW)- Tank Grip Pads Re-Adhesived 6/10/2013- Tank Emblems Replaced 6/10/2013- Clutch Switch Replaced 6/10/2013- Forks Partially Rebuilt (Upper + Lower Seals & Buffers Replaced) 2/3/2014- Euro "S" Low Bars Installed 2/3/2014- Brake Cable Replaced 2/3/2014- Battery Box Buffers Replaced 2/3/2014- Gas Tank Mounting Buffers Replaced 7/7/2014- Throttle Cables Replaced 8/7/2014- Valves Adjusted 8/7/2014- Fuel Line Replaced 8/7/2014- Fuel Filters Replaced 9/5/2014- Replaced petcocks with genuine BMW/Karcoma 90* angle petcocks 9/5/2014- Carbs completely ultrasonic cleaned & rebuilt with BMW/Bing parts (incl. floats) 9/5/2014- Tachometer/odometer cable replaced with Genuine BMW cable 9/5/2014There's a few spare parts included. such as:- Original seat hinges. - Original seat grab rail. - Original steering damper. - Other random bits and pieces. this would be where most sellers say "It's 40 years old and has a few flaws". but I'd rather just list the one main flaw for you:- Neutral switch leaks a bit of fluid. as do many Airheads. Probably the best solution is to make a project out of popping the transmission off to lube the splines. check the clutch. and replace the neutral switch at that time. Doesn't have to be done anytime soon. as it only drips a drop or less per day. So. that's all the good and the bad. Registration. by the way. is current as NON OP. cost to get her back fully registered is $81 at the DMV. I'm located in North Park. just about 5 minutes from Downtown San Diego and about 10 minutes from the airport. If you would like to fly in and ride the bike home. I can pick you up at the airport. If you would prefer to have the bike shipped I can help you with that as well. If you're not too far away (California. Arizona. Nevada. Oregon) I can possibly deliver the bike for a reasonable fee -- I've got a Mercedes Benz Sprinter that's set up for camping and hauling motorcycles. In any event. pickup is the full responsibility of the buyer. Please check my feedback and contact me with any questions you might have!
