Description

I'm selling this bike for a friend. It was well cared for up until about 10 years ago when it was parked. It was stored in a garage. but the gas was left in and the engine froze. I got it and pulled the heads and jugs. I cleaned up the bores with 400 sandpaper. gave it new oil O-rings (not piston rings). and reassembled it. I also cleaned out the carbs and changed the oil. It now runs. but it smokes. Compression was 110 on the left. and 100 on the right. I would plan on boring it out (the bores looked like crap) and a new pair of pistons. The bottom end seems fine judging from the oil light going out. even on the starter.

The rest of the bike is pretty good. The tank has a dent where it looks like the fairing got pushed into it when the bike either fell or got laid down. The fairing must have been replaced. as it is excellent except that it needs a new windshield. It's a Vetter Windjammer. and windshields can be had for about $100 shipped here on eBay. Also. the right crash bar/engine protector has a scrape in the chrome and is a little bent.   The right luggage rack has two broken welds. which I may have tacked together by the end of the auction. Either way it is included and other wise as good as the left rack. Hard cases are complete but still dirty. The tires hold air. but should be replaced. I have a brand new battery which is included if you use Buy It Now. The only missing parts that I'm aware of are the battery hold down and the spring that holds the battery cover on. There's a rubber band holding them on for the pics.

So that's the worst of what I know about the bike. As you can see from the pictures. it is not perfect. but it looks pretty good for 36 years old. If I were keeping it. I would not plan on restoring it beyond the repairs noted above. as it has a really honest patina that you could never get back. But that's up to you. one man's patina is another man's old mess!

Please feel free to ask any questions. Better yet. come and see it for yourself. or send out your mechanic/inspector.

Thanks and good luck! No reserve!
