Description

1965 BMW R50/2, ome say the smoothest of them all and I've been riding the same bike for 36 yearsand will probably have to agreewith that. ;}

Anyway, his machine was stored for decades by the looks of the Good-Year front tire as they haven't made tires for bikes for quite some time now. The gastank is in very good shape inside and dent free outside but needs painting and pinstripes as do the fenders. I also have new rubber knee pads included and used tank emblems. The front fender has been cut in two but can be welded back and the repair hidden BUT.... there is also a fiberglass fender included so take your pic.

I haven't taken the time to do much with this machine as there are other concerns taking my time.I do know it runs well but one carb float needle will stick from time to time the little it's been ran since I've acquired it. The front wheel looks like it would clean up very well but the rear rim is rusty. Both the tires will need replaced as would the tubes. I'm also includinga repo NEW dual seat, he narrow versio, as well as the wide dual seat mounted on the bike. I like the wider dual seats better as there is more cushion for support. This bike also has the rear luggage rack sometimes seen on these bikes.

Look closely at the pic, don't recall any broken fins on the cylinders or heads and the valve covers even look very good. I believe the whole engine and transmissionwould look better with a good scrubbing with a stainlees steel brush and Stoddard solvent. These bikes are a joy to ride and own and even non-motorcyclist will stop toask about them. A good friend of mine bought one last year and took his daughter for a ride and hehad to explain to her that everywhere he went strangers would strike up a conversation about the bike.

I won't be accepting any overseas (or Mexico)bids on this auction, orry. There is NO Buy-It- Now Price and this auction will run the entire time. This bike IS NOT for sale locally so don't worry about that sales gimmick. Those with N, ITTLE or NEGATIVE feedback bids WILL be cancelled (a few have ruined it for all, orry). Shipping is the buyers responsibility but I do know of a reputable shipper as well as a very shady one too who lives under a rock! Watch for my sweetR75/5 auction in the near future also. Read my feedback and bid with confidence. Thanks for your time and good luck if you are bidding.
