I picked up this early numbers matching R100RS a few months ago as a non-running (but said to have run well earlier last year) bike that wouldn't shift. I proceeded to start to remove the transmission to fix or replace it but found the issue was that all the driveshaft bolts were disconnected and showed evidence of having been loose before they fell out. I bought new ones and it shifts fine now. The scooter guy I bought it from had taken it in trade, ever ran it, ut was told it had some jet issue as well as not shifting. The idle jets were missing and one float needle was worn. After replacing them and putting in a new battery, t started up and I went through the gears on the stand. It still needs carburetor adjustment and tuning but the motor doesn't make any bad noises or smoke. The front brakes drag some and need work before I'd take it on the road. It has a new battery, nd like new tires. Parts missing are one choke cable adjuster, mblem on back of seat cowl, he long bolt that holds the air box halves together, nd the gas line T's. It has the tool trays, ir pump, ninstalled front fairing grille and a partial tool kit. All the lights, ignals and horn work but the neutral light is out. The clock works but I disconnected it because the second hand had fallen off and the minute hand was getting stuck on it. Very fixable with lens removal. The reason the air tubes aren't on it in the pictures (I have them) is the missing long air box bolt (the new ones BMW sells are black with the wrong head).
I didn't do more than wipe it off for the pictures and tried to show it has scratches and scrapes although the tank looks pretty nice. The bike has a worn Corbin seat - good pan - and I have the backrest. I also have chrome BMW bag mounts but no bags.
I put 90,000 miles on the title when I registered it because that's what the odometer read but now that it's running the odometer numbers rotate and it shows 70,000 so I have no idea of its true mileage.
So there you have the facts. I think this will be a fine bike with some love and care. Use this bike as is with some tinkering, nbsp;restore it to collector level, r make a cafe racer. No reserve or warranty and shipping is totally your responsibility. I would store it for 30 days after purchase.
