Description

1961 BMW R69S

27th R69S Produced, .5 Gallon Schorsch Meier Sport Tank, uro Bars, Beautiful and Largely Unrestored Example, riginal Title From 1961, riple Matching Numbers

This 1961 BMW R69S is one of most original and well optioned examples we have seen. It is a largely unrestored bike, ith what appears to be original paint on its frame, ear fender, hocks, and parcel rack. The bike was sold new to Billie K. Hummel of Detroit, ichigan. We still have his original title from 1961, testament to the motorcycle's careful preservation and conscientious owners over the years. Mr. Hummel took out a "Note and Chattel Mortgage" on the motorcycle through the City National Bank of Detroit for its sum of $1191.60. His monthly payments were $49.60.

According to a will that accompanies the documentation with the bike,Mr. Hummel passed away on the 6th of June, 983. In his ownership for 22 years, the motorcycle was passed through his widow, loria, o Wagoner Cycle Works of Lawrenceville, eorgia. The bike was then in the long term ownership of a noted BMW enthusiast in the Atlanta area before being sold to its most recent owner, pilot and BMW aficionado. It is believed the motorcycle remained in Georgia until coming into our possession several months ago.

The bike is fitted with the most desired equipment- the 6.5 Gallon Schorsch Meier Sport Tank, uropean handlebars, ar-end turn signals, olo seat, lbert mirrors and rear fender parcel rack and, f course, ts matching numbers 69S engine.

Many original details abound on this bike. The air cleaner still retains what appear to be its original service stickers. Inside the tool compartment reside a set of original BMW tools in their original tool roll, omplete with original BMW rag. Imperfections to note: a scuff on the bottom of the right muffler, ging rubber in places, nd some light patina (chips that have been carefully touched up) on parts of the frame. This is a largely original bike and I prefer a nice and authentic patina to a concours restored example. The bike has more character and you won't be afraid to ride it. Please see all pictures for indication of overall condition.

A few years ago, irhead authority Blue Moon Cycle went through the bike, ervicing and upgrading it. They installed a Brown side stand, djusted the throttle, uned the carbs, nstalled a new coil, new condenser, installed a battery tender lead, new battery (2015.) Records for this work accompany the motorcycle, s well as a printed owner's manual.

With a recent carburetor service and tune by us, ew spark plugs and valve adjustment, the bike is running smoothly. For the collector who appreciates original, nrestored motorcycles, his early R69S will make a lasting impression. It has the distinction of being the 27th chassis off the assembly line (according to online production records.) Its original stickers and tools further add to the unique and charming character of this top example. It is a triple matching numbers bike. At 43,000 miles, t would be wise to do a slinger service at some point soon, t which point you would probably refresh the top-end as well.

Bike is sold with a clean and clear Georgia registration (they do not issue titles for older vehicles) and transferred properly to you through my licensed and registered NY state dealership.

Bike is located at my shop in Williamsburg, rooklyn.
