Vintage German Motorcycles of Riverside CA is please to offer this 1941 BMW R12 solo motorcycle for sale. This is motorcycle was restored years ago in Germany andspent some time in Ireland before coming to the USA. This is arunning rideable motorcycle, t runs and drives. First lets start with the history of the motorcycle. The frame is marked 29868 on the head stock of the frame and typenschild. This is NOT the correct frame number, omeone has stamped this into the frame. It is a reinforced frame and they didnt have numbers, hose frames came without numbers and Wehrmacht units would stamp them back into the frame OR somewhere along the road people would stamp them in. The motor number is 100% original and has Incredible history. This motor wasdelivered toII. Kavallerie-Regiment 9 in F?rstenwalde.Here is the email from BMW archives.
The engine number 11677 belongs to a BMW R 12, hich was manufactured on December 19th, 938 and delivered on December 22nd, 938 to the II. Kavallerie-Regiment 9 in F?rstenwalde.
The motor has perfect stamped original numbers and a waffenamt right on the W of the BMW raised logo, lease see the photo. The motorcycle has a very nice solid frame and solid Original fenders on it. I am almost positive the fenders are 100% original. Almost all of the bolts on the bike are RIBE, erbus or NSF bolts. Very few are garbage bolts. The drivers seat is the correct seat and the rear passenger seat is a Original Sozius sattel, he early type which is really cool! These are getting harder to locate and this is a perfect nice original one. The magneto works well and it appears to be charging. It is not know what was done in Europe on the magneto. It is a real BOSCH D2B. The handle bars controls are original and throttle from what I can see. The headlight is not the correct headlight for the motorcycle. The speedo is a correct newer reproduction speedo. The saddle bags are NOT Included, will include new ones not the old ones seen in the photo. PLEASE BE WELL AWARE of this . I will replace the bags with new ones from Old-timer Garage. The rear saddle bag holder is a new reproduction holder. The license plates are new painted ones from my plate painter.
The motorcycle runs ok with these dual carbs. I would replace them with a New SUM carb which can be purchased from us here at Vintage German Motorcycles. We can sell you an original SUM Carb if you want one? Once you replace the carbs the motorcycle will run perfect. I will include with the purchase of the motorcycle an original BMW R12 Intake manifold for the SUM carb so all you need to buy is the carb and intake heat tubes. The Intake manifold I have is in fantastic condition and will bolt right on. The transmission works well, t shifts into all gears, he rear drive works good and no noises come from it.
