For sale is my 1985 BMW K100RT (although registered in early 1986). Took me quite a time to find one of these in good condition. as this is the mark 1 model (from 1983 to 1985 only) and is one of the later models. so it runs on unleaded fuel and has some other improvements. This is a great bike which I've been using it regularly for small journeys only. It cruises effortlessly on the motorway. is easy to ride slowly. and carries passengers with ease and in comfort. The fairing and screen provide great protection and make for a relaxed ride. I had a K100RS model in the past and I much prefer the RT. including because the bars are less of a stretch and the riding position is more natural. Also much to my surprise I have found the bike to be pretty easy riding through traffic in London. including because the mirrors are at a different height to many car mirrors. The previous owner hardly used the bike and fitted a brand new BMW shock absorber and BMW brake discs as well as a new battery. I have serviced the bike thoroughly including all new oils (engine. gearbox. drive box). drive splines greased with the correct specialist grease. brake fluid changed and brakes bled (none of the calipers stick). new BMW air filter. oil filter and fuel filter. valve shims all reset. fuel injectors cleaned and balanced. clutch adjusted and new spark plugs fitted. coolant flushed and changed. alternator bearings replaced and new alternator cush drive rubbers fitted. The speedo works fine (although some of the figures on the LCD clock don't appear). If I was keeping the bike I would grease the clutch splines next - can't think of any other maintenance that needs considering - although there is a hazard warning light switch on the dash which doesn't do anything. The bodywork is a nice metallic blue - a lighter blue than later models in the 1980s. There are a few marks commensurate with the bike's age and some paint has been touched up in places. I've tried to show a touched up part of the petrol tank in the photos. I can separately sell a Baglux tank bag if you are interested. The bike comes with full luggage and with keys for everything. The bike is currently taxed and insured (not on SORN) although under the new DVLA rules I believe the tax is not transferable upon sale. The MoT runs out in March 2015. Tyres are matching Metzeler Lasertech. Can't think of anything else that comes to mind. I have some old MoTs and other paperwork that comes with the bike. Also the bike comes with a comprehensive Clymer manual. I request a £100 payment via Paypal within 24 hours of the auction end. with cash on collection for the remainder. and collection within one week of the auction end. PLEASE NOTE: This is an online auction not a classified advert. You are bidding to buy the bike for the winning price based on the photographs and description provided. Thanks for looking. Happy to answer any questions.
