I'm selling one of my prized possessions. my '73 Toaster. I've had it for 13 years. but unfortunately it's been sitting for the past 6 years or so. I've been telling myself to sell her for years but I couldn't bring myself to do it until now. I stopped riding her when my battery went dead and she's just sat ever since. She ran great prior to sitting. but I'm not going start her now without some attention for fear of damage. Selling "AS IS" to a good home -- you won't be disappointed. This bike is not perfect. but I've left the pictures in same "AS IS" condition from when it was being stored. I don't want to polish it up to try and hide anything or give buyers the impression it's been restored. I bought the bike pretty much as you see it except for replacing the handlebars. grips. foot peg covers. new spark plug cables. and changing the oil. oil filters. and air filter. It does have the wrong seat from a /7. but it's easy enough to replace. "NEW TIRES" -- tires were installed at BMW of Daytona Beach during Bike Week on March 3rd. 2004 at 43. 50 miles for $425 complete (Wow. that was 10 years ago already!!!)The pictures show other items included: original tool kit (even BMW rag). fork springs & oil (bought but never got around to installing). oil filters. maintenance manuals. AND hard cases (which I've never installed). If you've been looking for a Slash 5 -- this is the one! The engine is strong. The only issue I've had with the bike is the soft front suspension -- which is why I bought the replacement springs & oil. And. of course. with all /5s the drum brakes are adequate at best. But. ask anyone who's ever ridden an old boxer BMW -- there is nothing like it!!! Smooth ride. plenty of power (at least for the R75s. never ridden an R50 or R60). And people either love or hate the "toaster tank" BMWs from 72-73. but they are the most unique of the classic BMWs. HAPPY BIDDING. Please send me any questions you may have. if you need to talk I can call and answer questions. just send me your phone number. Thanks. Steve.
