VW beetle engined custom BMW R series motorcycle project - bobber chopper style

A rare opportunity to own a home brewed VW beetle engined BMW motorcycle project! The VMW!

Started life as a BMW R series motorbike - currently on SORN and V5 in my Dad's name (the owner) who I'm advertising this for.  

The BMW frame has been widened and lengthened to accommodate the 1300 beetle engine.    Front end is standard BMW as is rear end and gearbox/wheels.   Gearbox has been modified to mate to the VW engine.   

VW 1300 Engine was running before fitting but needs setting up.  Clearly this is a part built project - you're not going to be able to ride it home as there's still a fair bit to do but a lot of the hard work has been completed.   Loosely assembled so you can see what's there.   Custom tank (with retro 'naked lady' mural!) and seat.   What you see in the pictures is what's there.   (No wiring. exhausts. lights etc. )

Front wheel even has a tyre! It may be flat.  It may just need air?  If this level of mechanical uncertainty is disconcerting for you this may not be for you and you may wish not to read on.

This is only for sale to fund some expensive engine bits for my old man's other bike (A BMW hardtail custom he also built years ago) as a lot of hours have gone into this to date but sadly one running bike is better that two projects!  The VW starter is fitted but he's not managed to get this to line up with the flywheel - he doesn't think this will be too difficult to do with the right kit/some help from a decent engineering shop but no more funds to spend on the project - alternatively you could possibly fit an early R series kickstart gearbox?

The BMW parts alone are worth a good few hundred ?? and the VW engine is all there with carb. dynamo and deep sump but we'd really like to see this go as a project and be completed given the time spent so far.  I

Finish it off. fit twin webers and be the envy of your friend/s!
