Description

You are bidding on a Frankenbeemer! Clear and clean title. The story behind this one is I bought it from a guy in Upstate New York who used to own a BMW dealership in the 80s. This bike was a project of his and started with a  1970 R75/5 frame with what I think is a longer wheelbase sub frame. Added a toaster tank. Added a more modern motor. I think it's an 800cc from the late 80s which I'm judging from the black valve covers and the electronic ignition etc. I've attached a detailed photo of the number stamp on the motor and those who know this bike better than me should be able to figure it out. I think the motor might have had some performance work as well. but that was just me judging from the seat of my pants because this thing was FAST compared to other air heads from that era I've ridden. It also has some R90S goodies like the front double disc drilled brakes and Del Orto carbs. also from an R90s. Also has the valuable toaster tank and the old style head light cluster. although both are on the rougher side as far as condition goes.  I daily drove the bike to work for three summers as is (thought the rad rod look was cool). but then decided I wanted to build a cafe racer instead. I got as far as changing the steering head bearings and putting on some low slung cafe bars with bar end mirrors. and that was it. It sat in my dry garage. covered for 4 years (that's when my son was born. ) And there it lays. Still partially disassembled. but complete.  I'm under STRONG suggestion to get this out of the garage asap by my wife so I'm selling it as is. where is. Like I said it's all there and ready for you to reassemble and run it like a rat rod. or you can use it as a cafe project. do a full restoration or part it out. Options are endless. This one does have some very valuable R90s bits there's some added value right there.  The pictures tell the story. It's rough. It's ugly. it does not run but did when I parked it 4 years ago. Started right up on the first press of the button like clockwork. It ran really well and seemed very solid. That said. it's been sitting for years so it'll need a good going though before you fire it back up again. including reattaching the oil cooler lines etc (the crank case is nearly empty right now. )Again. sold as is. where is. I would love to see it go to a new home. Bring a truck or a trailer. I'll be happy to help you load it up but I'm not able to facilitate shipping anywhere. that will be up to you.
