Description

                                                  1

I purchased this BMW R69S almost 42 years ago from its second owner. It is a triple matching number R69US.  It had 9. 00 miles on it. I used it for touring and commuting for many years. Typically doing hundreds of miles per day all over the south and as far north as New York State. In the mid-nineties I acquired a later BMW and let this one sit. A few years ago I got one of the local BMW Gurus to ?ˆ?wake it up?ˆ?. Now tires were installed. carbs gone through. fluids changed and I rode it some more. I have decided to let it go.

It now has 23. xx miles on it. Main seal was done. heads were rebuilt around 10. 00 miles ago after a valve was burned on a trip. I have compression plates installed in the 80?ˆ™s to deal with 93 octane gas. It originally had a small tank and seat. The Enduro bags have always been on there. Note: I have a key for them! Have you ever seen one? Internally. the bags have 2?ˆ? tears where the preload levers tore through them. I use to put my clothes in a bag. A lot of people hack sawed off the levers! Mine are still intact. The large tank has a LOCKING tool lid. The tank came from a guy who liked to pack heat so to speak. The tab for the original screw was cut to accommodate it. I also have the original order form for the Enduro bags. $59. 95 ! BMW mufflers are fairly new. Not repops. Deep sump pan fitted.

This is all original paint and it is brilliant. It has had a few nicks. scrapes and dents. The front fender has some touch up. the tank has a little wear on pinstripes. The RH side of the tank has a small dent on it from my leaning it on a tree once and it rolled forward. The original side stand bolt broke off in a truck stop in Pa. one day. They were known to be lethal and untrustworthy. I added a Swirin side stand. Not a thing of beauty but quite functional. The wheels are all steel. I think the 69?ˆ™s had alloy but swapped stuff around over the years. I prefer the steel ones myself. I do not have a key for fork lock. It has a the ?ˆ?US?ˆ? bars with original turnsignals (functional). It has the folding rack which is the only version that will work with the Enduro bags.

I think there was only about 9. 00 telescopic fork or ?ˆ?US ?ˆ?models built. This also includes a fairly complete tool kit and an original US model owner?ˆ™s manual. I?ˆ™ve had numerous /2 BMWs over the years but always found the US models to be excellent handling bikes.

I have tried to take pix of the various blemishes. Remember this is a 45 year old motorcycle being offered by its companion of 42 years. It was ridden and enjoyed and cared for. Frame has been touched up in spots from battery acid on it. common problem with the Bosch generator being too good.

I am selling it as is. where is. The title is in my name. Shipping is FOB. I have a friend who is taking a truck to Las Vegas in January. He charges. I also can coordinate with local shippers.

Now the legal stuff. Sold as is. where is. No warranty expressed or implied. High bidder is to pay a deposit of $750. 00 within 24 hours of auction completion. Balance by wire preferred. By bidding you are entering into a contract.
