BSA A50 Royal Star Spares or Repairs For Restoration
This is a 10 day Spares or Repairs auction with a sensible reserve and no buy it now price. It is not advertised anywhere else and I will not stop the auction for any reason so you can bid with confidence that only the highest bidder will win the auction.
I believe it's a 1962 model
Mileage shows 18. 00 but it's unlikely to be accurate.
Engine and frame numbers don't match but they're not far apart. (Sorry to be vague. I'll post them in the next day or two). They both start A50 1--.
Genuine barn find. No keys or V5. The tax disc on this BSA A50 is dated 1989 and I believe that it has been stored for the last 26 years.
As you can see from the pictures I have cleaned off the cobwebs and the dust so that you can see what you're looking at and to be fair it's looking pretty good.
The engine won't turn over so I had my technician take a look into the cylinders with a miniature camera. He said that it looks like there's a bit of corrosion on the cylinder walls so his best guess is that the rings have become attached to the cylinders so it will need a re-bore new pistons and rings but I'm sure you'd have done that anyway.
The gears all select and the suspension and brakes seem fine. The frame looks straight and there's no sign of crash damage. Interestingly the registration "XCO" is a Plymouth prefix so it would indicate that the bike has been owned locally all it's life. Please study the pictures for best indication of condition and see below for more details.
Viewing
You are welcome to come and have a look for yourself. by appointment. I am happy to e-mail pictures direct to your own e-mail address so that you can see greater detail and I am more than happy to answer any questions you have to the best of my knowledge. I describe all my bikes as accurately as I can and do my best to notice as much detail as possible whilst I am cleaning them. I ride all bikes that are being sold as runners before I list them to make sure they ride as they should or as per the description. When you buy a bike from me you are welcome to have a mechanic check it over before you collect.
All my auctions run for 10 days. I always run my auctions to the finish unless there is a buy it now price displayed.
Transport
I have my own pick up so I may be able to help with local deliveries for a fee.
For delivereies that are a little further afield. I can recommend a very professional motorcycle courier called who's delivery costs are more than reasonable (phone number on request) or you can get a free quote from Shiply (it’s a web site a bit like eBay where courier companies bid for your delivery) using this link. http://www. shiply. com/rf/TQIGW8UGLA/ I’ve had some customers who have used the site and have been very pleased with the results.
I’m in South Devon
I am located in beautiful sunny South Hams in Devon close to Plymouth. Exeter and Totnes. so handy for trains or Exeter airport. The roads are twisty and scenic. so why not collect and make a weekend of it. Ride stunning coastal roads or head up on to the moors and end the day with a good meal and a few pints of Jail Ale at the Plume of Feathers in Princetown (there’s camping and a bunk house if you over do it!) Head for The Camel and discover the vineyard that beat the best Champaign to hold the title for the world’s best sparkling rose. Don’t go home without a mega brunch at Cap’n Jaspers on the Barbican in Plymouth. nbsp;loved by bikers. sailors. later-nighters and. er. pirates!? Spend an evening in great company. alfresco at The Winking Prawn in Salcombe or spend a lazy afternoon at The Oyster Shack in Aveton Gifford. Of course there are cream teas. pasties and some brilliant British surf. Great gastro pubs. beer and loads of B&B's. Most importantly you’ll find a welcome from all the bikers in Devon and Cornwall which has the highest density of motorcycles per capita in the UK!
I’m a Trader.
I am selling as a TRADER (this differs from a DEALER: I do not have a retail premises) with 20 years' experience in the trade. I managed a BMW dealership since 1999 (UK's favourite dealer 2006/7 RiDE Survey). Previous experience in a multi-franchise and a London Harley Davidson dealer.
