BSA A65 Star

I bought this bike 2 years ago from my brother in laws dad. It had been in his family since 1974.  Dry stored in his garage from 1984. He is a mechanic and owned his own garage from the 1980's. to say this guy is thorough in all he does would be an understatement. The bike had been owned by his brother and has undergone a full restoration in the early eighties just before he bought it with the intention of riding it. but never did. The frame and ancillaries have been stove enamelled and look like they were done yesterday. All the original tin wear is there and in fantastic condition. It had a respray at the time. and looks really good. although the tank has painted sides rather than chrome and shows some light patina. However. it is fine inside and required no repairs. I stripped the carb. ultrasonic cleaned it and rebuilt it with an overhaul kit. I cleaned the filters. changed the oil. put new points and condensers. leads and plugs. fresh petrol and it fired up. I had the seat recovered and all the wiring checked. Compression absolutely spot on. Mot'd and taxed. runs and looks fine. the motor runs really quiet. except for the period sounding exhausts! It's just I have three other bikes and haven't used it much at all. Original full chain guard. which is a bit of a rarity. but saying that the bike is original throughout.  I had the wheels and spokes cleaned. bead blasted and powder coated in a pale grey lacquer. The chrome had started to tarnish and I thought this would be a good measure until I replaced them. but I really liked the way they looked so kept it.
