Welcome to the auction of my great Bantam race project. Please be aware that it needs some minor work to get it track-worthy. that said it is up and running and riding well and has the makings of a good formula race Bantam.
The engine is freshly rebuilt with all new bearings and seals. The crankshaft has a modern conrod which accepts a metric small end bearing. It has a standard genuine Suzuki TS185 piston and a standard unported cylinder bored to 64mm. The cylinder head is centre plug type (B175 also standard). What is a very important point to make is that it has a genuine BSA close ratio gearbox fitted. These are now becoming very expensive and hard to find. New clutch plates and heavy duty springs are fitted. The carburettor is a 32mm Amal concentric. The ignition is currently coil and points total loss. so a PVL Motoplat or Electrics World would be a good future alternative. The exhaust is purely a system to get it up and running. which consists of a late. large bore silencer with a home-made downpipe to suit. This is very basic. a bit tatty but working. The frame is D14 and has been bead blasted some time ago and coated with Jenolite ready for painting. The subframe has been narrowed and shortened by an inch. I have fitted new rear shocks. tapered steering head bearings. a new chain and aluminium rear sprocket. The yokes are purpose made aluminium and fitted with 30mm lightweight Japanese forks. Unfortunately I do not know what they are from. Nice disc brake conversion. The wheels are both 18” and also fitted with Dunlop race tyres (KR825's). The rear wheel has a flanged aluminium rim. the front has a steel rim and I can offer a flanged front rim to the winning bidder at an agreed extra cost if required. It has a new seat unit. a Honda MT125 fairing and an unknown classic race tank.
There are lots of other nice bits and bobs. all of which take a lot of time and effort to do. Take a good look at the pictures. This is not a long way away from being a real cracker and is built to Formula Bantam rules.
Hear are my pointers to getting it out on the circuit:
Your own tuning specification to the cylinder and head
An expansion chamber to suit
A self energising ignition (straight line)
A selection of jets and sprockets
Service the front forks (new seals and oil)
A pair of rear brake shoes
Paintwork (maybe not)
Please no silly offers. all sensible questions will be answered. You are more than welcome to come and view.
The auction is set with no reserve. Full payment is preferred on collection and please contact asap after auction ends.
(Please note: the paddock stand is not included)
Good luck and thanks for looking.
