1937 VELOCETTE KTS MKII
Here is a beautifully restored 1937 Velocette KTS MKII 350cc Overhead Camshaft single with original engine to frame & original registration number.
This bike was extensively restored in 2002 was subsequently been judged “best Velocette” at Stanford Hall two years running.
It is still in superb / show condition.
The bike starts easily and sounds great - no smoke and is mechanically quiet.
It rides really well too. The cammy 350 is similar to a typical post-war 500cc pushrod British single. only probably smoother.
Everything is working well. the lights are good and the dynamo is charging well and regulating correctly. The Smith’s chronometric speedometer is working properly too. Brakes are OK but the front does judder somewhat if tested hard.
Gearbox and clutch are spot on. both feel very smooth and clean.
The bike comes with V5C registration certificate. It has the original transferable registration DHA 785. date of registration 6th July 1937. According to Ivan Rhodes’ factory records the bike has its original frame & engine numbers: MS3818. KSS 8107 that it left the factory with on 5th July 1937 when was supplied to Copes of Birmingham. Both stampings are the factory originals. The V5C matches the bike itself!
Cosmetically the bike is in beautiful all round condition. It could well be described as show condition and with a few minor detail changes would probably be a worthy concours contender. even at the bigger shows.
The stove enamel on the frame is really beautiful. it is proper old school stoving with very deep gloss. The paintwork in general on all the tinware etc is excellent quality enamel too.
The wheel rims are both excellent Dunlop items . spokes front and rear are stainless.
Front tyre is a ribbed Avon road runner and rear is a standard Roadrunner. Both are practically unused looking. General chrome & bright-work is very good. There is no rust on this machine!
So don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to own a beautiful pre war cammy-Velo with matching engine . frame & registration numbers. A wonderful piece of Velocette & for that matter British motorcycling history!
