In the late 50's and early 60' British 500 cc engines dominated competitive racing. BS came out with the Cyclone in 1964 and stopped production in1965. The 500cc engine was known for its reliability and with dual carbs it kept up with and handled better than larger cc's. But in the USA. which had become the prime target of British bikes. bigger was better. and the 650cc engines became king. The Cyclone was a 1-2 year lost wonder and is now very rare. I have only seen one other Cyclone in person. and that was at the world famous Barber Motorsports Festival in Oct 2014. Production estimates are just that--guesses. Some say that less than 200 made it to America. Total production seems to be between 500 and less than 2000. but I couldn't find actual facts. Probably most of them ended up butchered and sold for parts. This Cyclone has a clear Wisconsin title. starts right up with one or two kicks and runs. shifts and idles. With 2 carbs it looks like a 650. but remember. the 500 had better reliability. Engine appears to be original. but I'm not sure about tank and side covers. They look very nice. and the red repaint from some years ago looks very good. One ding. not a dent on the tank (see photo). The seat looks original. but was professionally redone last year. Inside of tank might need to be cleaned but carbs were cleaned. I don't know much more about it. It has been in my collection of 50+ bikes for a few years. It has a typical British oil leak that looks like it's coming from near the engine sprocket and some of the chrome and metal is pitted or tarnished. It needs new fork rubbers. and lower handlebars. mirrors. TLC and tuneup. Gas tank and carbs appear fine. You could probably drive it as is for many miles and it is a head-turner. Odometer says 6018 miles--don't know if it is original. I've started this bike every couple of months an run it for 10 minutes or so.
