Description

Up for your consideration, 1968 BSA 441 Victor Special with matching frame/engine numbers B44 B 4079VS This Victor is a very good running bike that fires up within first or second kick. Bike idle's nicely, uns strong thru the gears and does not smoke at all. Anyone looking for a Victor too hop on and ride right away, ill enjoy this bike as she feels well sorted.
This BSA was purchased new in 1968 by a young man who was shortly thereafter was sent too Vietnam. Like so many, e didn't make it home. The Victor then languished in his fathers garage for years until rolled out for a summer yard sale in late 70's. It was then purchased by 2nd owner who has owned and loved her for almost 40 years now. He became a Victor enthusiast, nd then a long time BSA Club member. He always kept the bike garaged, nd carburetor drained after each ride. Bike was generally used for trail riding during summer camping vacations. Age and general health issues last 10-15 years have kept this bike tucked away in the garage with only a few neighborhood runs each summer.
Mileage on odometer shows 1,678 miles. I tested the speedo and it does work, owever last owner admitted to speedo cable letting go years back and not replacing it. At that point in time he wasn't riding it that often, nd in his words never understood a speedo on a dirt bike anyhow. He stated that too be on the safe side, igure almost twice the mileage shown.
Basic info.....
Again, rame and engine number are matching.
Gas tank has a two dings, ne with small scratch, he other a smaller ding(see pics)
No broken fins, o frame welds or cuts. Swing arm has been extended approx 1 1/2 inches.
Looks like the original "Champion" spark plug lead.
Rear shocks look to be original, re soft, nd do squeak.
Little foam added to seat at some point. Small tear in cover on left side.
I have a brand new grey seat 2nd owner gave me. I'm not sure it fits right, ut was ordered for this bike thru British only.
Headlight works great, oth high/low and on/off work as they should.
Looks like oil tank may have been painted at some point?
Last owner did install a beautiful brand new rear fender that still looks new.
Oil dipstick has a ding on top
Carburetor body and new inner components were installed, long with upgraded easier to use tuning screws (see pic)
Tailight/brake light work as they should.
There are stock parts that go with bike like, rush-guard, riginal fork ears, odded chainguard, ront fender, procket
Front fender didn't fit anymore after 4:00 size front tire was installed.
Front & rear tires both have approx 90% of there tread. They were installed years back to replaced aged originals.
Inside of gas tank is very clean. Left side "BSA" decal is faded on top as bike leans too left when filling with gas. That inevitable drop or two of petrol faded top of emblem. Call it patina that shows the originality of bike I guess.
The Victor is not a over restored machine or trailer bike. She's a original condition rider that shows some use and age. She has that original unrestored look, ounds great and is so much fun to ride. Always a new friend too meet upon fill up, r someone standing next to her when parked. I'm personally trying to rebuild a collection of British bikes I lost a few years back. I purchased this good old Victor just because she's was British. But I'm more of a twin cylinder road bike enthusiast. Recent dual purchase of a 66' Bonneville, nd 68' BSA lightning, nd wife that only puts up with so much forces sale Victor Special. Bike will be sold with a new clean title in my name.
