1965 BSA Thunderbolt Rocket

You are looking at my 1965 Thunderbolt Rocket. I hate to sell it, ut I like to ride my bikes not just look at them. A head on collision with a distracted 18 year old driver while on my 1968 Thunderbolt has made me realize that it is no longer safe to ride on the streets no matter how defensive you are. I bought this bike from a gentleman in New Hampshire that found it covered up in the back of a storage container. It looked just like it does in the pictures with the exception of new mufflers and tires. I don't know all the history other than it was purchased by a woman many years ago and she put it in storage when she was unable to kick start it anymore. Like I stated, fter being removed from storage the tires, attery and mufflers were replaced along with a complete inspection and service. The bike now starts on first or second kick, uns great with no smoke and drives as it should.I put just under 1,000 miles on it this summer alone. The speedo and odometer work, ut the trip odometer does not. The mileage on the clock is 5,035 miles and I have no reason to doubt it, ut who knows on a 51 year old bike. Look at the pictures carefully, his bike appears to be largely all original except that the USAHandlebars were replaced at some point with low style, able guide tubes for original bars are still on cables. Overall, he bikeis showing the patina that you would expect and I believe it really adds to its character. Some pitting on the wheels and some light pitting on the fenders, ut clean up fine and look good. The tank is near perfect, lean inside, ice chrome, o cracks in badges, nee pads are split but all there. The seat cover shows some wear as you might expect (see pictures). Fork gators are split, ut in one piece and I decided to leave them as they add to the originality of the bike, have new ones that will go with bike. Has original tool pouch with some tools that are not original. Headlightlens is a little foggy, ut is original Lucas.Bike has a current Maine registration, ut Maine does not title anything this old. Make sure this is ok in your state, tated clear title in description because ebay required that you put something. I am hoping that someone that appreciates these bikes as much as I do will purchase and ride it. I have tried to include anything that I can think of in the description, f you have any additional questions please ask. If you are not familiar with old motorcycles please realize that this is over 50 years old and is not like a newer bike that you just ride without having to repair from time to time. I constantly maintain my bikes with regular inspections and fluid changes this helps you to catch potential problems before they happen (ie. loose bolts etc.).
