Description

I am selling my Triumph Hurricane and most of my collection due to age (80) and normal declining health. I have owned this Hurricane since purchasing it in 1981 from the Estate of one of the most long standing Triumph dealers in the USA. At the time of purchase the bikelooked just like the first designed Vetter BSAs. It never occurred to me to try to find out if it was one of the first prototypes. I do not think the later vin number would indicate it was one of the early Vetter bikes.I immediately had the bike painted professionally, ith the correct 3M stripeswith the name Triumph rather than BSA.When I purchased the bike it had a little over 6000 miles on the odometer. I never knowingly rode the bike when the speedometer was not working. It now reads 8,099. I kept the bike indoors always and had regular servicing performed on it. I rode it sparingly but but the speedometer always worked. I believe the milage is accurate but cannot vouch for the miles before I purchased it. Just before deciding to sell the bike I had it gone over bymy mechanic friend of many years. He replaced the fork seals and oil, ebuilt the carbs and put on a new front tire. He noted that the speedometer was not working. The speedometer always worked while I was ridingbut at some point it must have quit working.I will have the speedometer rebuilt or replaced and the winner may deduct $300.00 from the top bid or let me take the responsibility for the repairs. I have talked to Mr. Nisonger of Nisonger Insturments, elephone 914 381 3600,and he will rebuild speedometer for less than $200.00I know of no mechanical problems with the bike. It cranks easily without the choke and handles and stops as it should. It is a pleasure to drive and the chrome and finish are very good for its age. There are a few scrapes and smallchips on the edges of the body paint, but not very noticeable. The bike is mostly original and not restored so it is not perfect but is in very good condition for an original bike .This bike has had a good life, eing owned by a long time Triumph dealer and me. It has been loved and taken care of, nd it shows. I hope the next owner enjoys owning and riding it as much as I have. I havea GeorgiaTitle in my name.
