Description

This bike is being re listed as Ebay cancelled the original listing saying that it was listed in the wrong category which I find ironic as their system chose the category for me in the first place!

Anyway this auction is for an original 1969 BSA Rocket 3 which I have personally owned for over 25 years. I am the second owner. When I purchased the bike I completely rebuilt it. I overhauled the engine with new parts as needed, ainted frame and other parts black. The tank, enders and side covers were sent out for a professional re spray in the original flamboyant red and were hand striped as original. I rode the bike for several summer seasons and then put it away to purse other projects.

I now find myself in a position where I am having to downsize and simplify my life so have decided it is time to pass on this lovely classic to someone with more time to ride and enjoy this bike. To that end I have recently brought it out of storage after a long sleep. I checked fluids, nstalled a battery, dded fuel, ickled the carbs and gave it a kick. It started first kick and after warming up settled into a steady idle! The clutch was stuck but I have since freed it up although it still needs some fine tuning in the adjustment. I have always found the clutch action to be rather heavy which is a common trait with these triples. There are now some modern remedies to take care of that I understand. The bike runs strong, oesn't smoke and has that wonderful triple howl from the original exhaust pipes and mufflers!!

This is not a trailer queen but rather a bike I rebuilt to ride. This bike is all original with the exception of the horns which I replaced with Fiam units as I found them to be better and louder than the originals and the ignition system which I replaced with a Lucus Rita electronic system. The bike always turned heads when I rode it and still shows very well. Having said that, here are a few things to take note of;

There are a few small rock chips from having been ridden. The white piping on the seat has started to fray in a couple of areas but after all it is the original seat! There is a hairline crack in the outer primary cover where the lower counter sunk screw attaches the cover. Again this is a known weak point with the triples. When I rebuilt the motor I had this area repaired but it seems to have re appeared so the primary will weep oil at times until it is fixed again. Also the tachometer is not working at the moment but I think this is just a cable issue that I haven't had time to delve into.

I have tried to describe this bike with words and pictures as best I can but feel free to ask any questions you may have prior to bidding. Included in the sale is the original tool kit (rare as these are normally removed or lost) and the original workshop and parts manuals. I have set what I feel is a fair reserve for a bike in this condition and welcome your bids if you have good history and feedback on Ebay.

I request a $500 non refunable deposit at close of auction and full payment within 7 days. I will accept PayPal if I have to but would prefer bank draft, ire or e-transfer, ash is also acceptable.

Shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser but I will assist in any way I can.

Thank you for looking, appy bidding and good luck.
