BSA VICTOR ENDURO ROUND BARREL PROJECT 1966

I have always thought the unit BSa's to be the most elegant of motorcycles and of these the Round barrel B44 the best looking of the off road bikes. much more lithe than the clunky square barrel Enduros. Shame is I don't think I'll ever get around to starting this project never mind finishing it. It should be quite an easy project as parts from pretty much any unit BSA will fit . Starfire. Barracuda etc. . and alloy competition tanks are plentiful and not too expensive. Alternatively you could transform your C15 or B40 or perk up your Starfire or Barracuda I could supply a square barrel and head INSTEAD of the round barrel bits. please phone for details.

To get to the particulars: The frame is the competition type. with mounts for competition footrests (less likely to swivel under hard use) bash plate. swinging arm and shock absorbers. although these are probably shot. There is also a comp type oil tank. Generally the frame etc. . looks to be in good condition. The brake pedal mount has been knocked slightly out of line. but a little heat and a hammer would easily sort this out. It will need paint of course.

The engine looks good. it does not seem to have been knocked or messed about. there are no broken fins. The piston is +10 and while there is a little wear the barrel looks as if it would go again with a hone and a new set of rings. The head is not damaged and the valves etc. . seem fine so far as I can tell without stripping the head. Downsides are that the big end is on it's last legs and the spline is worn on the gear change shaft. The engine is also missing pushrods. There are repair sections available for the gear change. pushrods are cheap and Alpha make improved needle roller big ends for reasonable money.

The project would be an excellent basis for a pre 65 MX bike. or if you wish to register it for the road. I have a copy of the import papers. The frame and engine numbers match. B44E2442.
