Description

Up for auction is a 1968 B44 Shooting Star motorcycle. The motorcycle appears in the condition that I found it in. I have not done anything to clean this bike up or prep it for sale other than get it running. I believe the bike to be in very original condition. The only thing that I see missing are the left side cover and the right passenger foot peg. When I got the bike I changed the oil. put fresh gas in a separate tank. hooked up a battery. oiled the cylinder and piston. and it fired up and ran like a champ. The engine runs nicely and the tranny shifts good through all the gears. If you plan on riding this bike I would still suggest going through the points and the carb as a precautionary measure. The tires are old and should be replaced. It will need a new battery as I borrowed one from my bikes to start it.  The cables may need adjustment and replacement. The odometer wheels are out of track so I do not know the original mileage. The positive wires that go to the battery have some covering coming off and should be tended to. The engine does not smoke. knock. or make any odd noises. I do not see any major oil leaks. I purchased this bike out of an estate and the registration has long been lost. I will provide a bill or sale so it can be registered. I believe that the family I bought the bike from may have been the original owners. The paint on the tank appears in good used condition but there are some scuffs and minor cosmetic issues. Please keep in mind that this is a 40 year old bike that has been sitting so it does have some dirt. oil. and corrosion but appears in original condition. Also. the tank is fiberglass so it will not hold up to modern fuels that have contain ethanol. hence the reason I used a separate tank. The wheels have like corrosion but look very presentable. The seat is in nice original condition. The handlebars are aftermarket. The fenders have a few small dings and some light pitting and rust but should clean up nicely with some buffing. Some of the rubber on the bike is slightly deteriorated and will need replacement if one desires. The numbers match on the frame and motor and read B44B 826 SS. The engine builds very good compression. The side covers are in good original condition. Exhaust is solid and only has minor pitting. The rear license plate mount is homemade. Brakes work but should be adjusted and replaced.  All of the lights and lenses are intact and original and seem to be working. All of the electrics appear original Lucas equipment. The frame is straight and all paint looks original. Please review all pictures and contact with further questions. I am willing to assist in shipping this bike but I will not ship in personally.  Upon winning the bike I require a $500. 00 deposit within 24 hours of the end of the auction with the balance due by pick up or shipping. If you have any questions you can call me direct at (716)-474-0952. Bike is sold as-is and as described. Thank you and happy bidding!
