I bought this as a nostalgic trip. I used to ride one in those days. I realised that these classic bikes INCREASE in value over time. so it would not devalue as would money in the bank. So I could enjoy owning the bike. and cost me nothing. or even make a profit on it!I was told that if I keep it till springtime. it would sell for more. but I need the room now. I rode the bike for 10 miles and reached 75 MPH. That was fast enough for me. Two younger relations did the same. and both said they would love to buy it. but could not afford it. The bike appears to be all original. and in good order. I spent ??200 on it for bits and pieces. Side stand. Grip handle. Mirrors. steering lock. rear lamp. The engine was said to be recon. and this appears to be true. Also recon Magneto. new tyres. new clutch plates. Both chains. clutch. and sprockets appear in good condition. Engine has good compression and runs well. Clutch drags a bit. so you cant select neutral without stopping the engine. but this not a great problem on the road. The dynamo has a missing outer cover. The wiring is a bit untidy. but electrics work fine. At 75. I am getting weaker and bending is painful for me. I can start the bike with great effort. and. I can (Just) get it on the centre stand. ut wheeling the bike over a curb. or keeping balance as I move it is a problem. I quickly get exhausted. and the bike is simply too heavy for me.
