What we have here is a 1952 Matchless G80S. the last of my collection. Brought over by me from Australia in 2007. it is in very roadworthy condition. and quite original. Work done on it while under my ownership included rebuilding of top end. a front fork rebuild using NOS fork legs and new seals. and complete re-wiring of entire bike with new British wiring loom. Bike received an amateur cosmetic restoration long before my ownership. and what I believe was a lacquer repaint. Sheet metal is very nice. but a repair (shown) to the rear fender hinge was made many years ago that could be improved upon. Aside from the usual paint chips and scratches due to use. the restoration has held up fairly well. Striping and miscellaneous decals are applied over the paint. not cleared over. Chrome is in nice shape. with silencer new a few years ago. Exhaust header pipe is older. but still looks fine. Rims are flawless. and wheels were re-laced with stainless steel spokes several years ago. Engine castings are very nice. with no evidence of damage or repairs. nbsp; There are no broken fins on head or cylinder. and the engine number verifies that it belongs to this 1952 G80S. Bike was fitted with a Amal Monobloc unit many years ago. replacing the original side floater. Tank is in very nice condition inside and out and features the plated Ewarts petcocks. both of which are very nice and recently re-corked. ]Correct seat is nice. with no rips or tears. Mechanically. the bike is in good order. Tickle the Amal. and she starts easily using the compression release and settles into an idle nicely. On the road. the bike rides straight and true. and the Burman gearbox shifts cleanly and runs quietly. All electrics work. including horn. which is a copy of the Lucas Altette. and the magneto is very strong. To my knowledge. items not original to the bike is the combination high/low beam and horn button. ammeter. nbsp;and the tire pump. which is a nice reproduction. Smith chronometric speedo is original. operates correctly. as does the odometer. Mileage may or not be correct. as I have not owned the bike since new. This is a very original and complete G80S that should give its owner many years of riding pleasure. as is. nbsp;or a candidate for a frame-up restoration. Texas title is clear and in my name. and the bike is currently inspected and registered. Please ask questions and I will respond quickly. but I will not divulge the reserve. I cannot crate the bike. but will work with the buyer to assist with any pickup arrangements that might be necessary. Thanks for looking at my G80S and good luck bidding!
