BSA Bantam D7 1970 *12 Months MOT and free tax*
I bought this bike last summer with the sole intention of using it to ride to the Manx Grand Prix this year.
This little bike exceeded everybody?ˆ™s expectations and completed the trip without a single hiccup. The total mileage for the trip was just under 400 including a full lap of the historic TT course. I was accompanied by my friends on larger and newer machines. but the Bantam went everywhere they did from the Sound in the South to the Point of Ayr in the North. albeit a little more slowly.
It will happily cruise at 45mph on the flat ?ˆ“ and accelerates briskly enough to keep up with the flow of modern day traffic. I have completed almost 1000 miles in my year of ownership with very little trouble. A regular 50 mile round trip to Southport on a Sunday is a pleasure.
It seems a real shame to part with it. but all my friends have now sold their own Bantams on. so I will not really get the opportunity to use it. You may have noticed some of them being sold over the past weeks.
It was suggested that I strip down the bike to its component parts and sell it that way. but surely that would be sacreligious! After the fantastic service this bike has provided. the least I can do is make sure it stays on the road!!
Over the winter months. the bike was partially stripped and anything requiring attention was either repaired or replaced.
New parts include:
Forks. new chrome handle bars with levers.
Wing mirror and many fasteners replaced with polished stainless steel items.
New chrome folding kickstart which prevents it from catching the back of your boot whilst riding (a great addition!)
New lead acid (dry cell) battery.
Full new wiring loom to ensure the lights are reliable.
Heavy duty clutch assembly fitted
New front number plate and decals for the rear.
Brakes have been stripped and cleaned to improve them.
Replacement (2nd hand) exhaust.
The tinware on the bike was solid when I bought it. but required attention cosmetically. To this end. the mudguards. tank. panels. fork shrouds etc have all either been painted or powdercoated.
The wheels have been restored by powdercoating the rims in black to match the bike and new stainless steel spokes. This is a great ?ˆ?period?ˆ™ addition to the bike and draws comments from the many people that stop to look at it! The tyres are all good.
12Months MOT
Log Book is present and it is registered in my name.
The bike has been set up as per the manual and has been tweaked as I go along ?ˆ“ the trip it completed is proof that the settings are as close as you could get to the optimum. The bike starts easily. often on the first kick.
The Bike is being advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to withdraw at any time if it is sold. nbsp;but my intention is to leave the auction to run its course.
I have set a reserve which I feel is more than fair.
Viewing is welcome. in fact I would prefer any interested party come along and see it for themselves. but I know this is not always possible.
Please bear in mind that this little bike is 45 years old ?ˆ“ but I honestly believe its condition belies this.
This is a genuine sale ?ˆ“ I have been deliberating for weeks whether or not to keep it. but have come to the conclusion that its time for someone else to take the reins and enjoy the bike as it was intended.
If you have any questions please message me and I will forward my contact number. If you need photo?ˆ™s of any specific parts just ask.
Bike is located in Bolton. Lancs
Thanks for looking. Jim.
