BSA Bantam D7 1965 6 Months tax and test
I bought this bike last summer with the sole intention of using it to ride to the Manx Grand Prix this year.
This little bike exceeded everybody?ˆ™s expectations and completed the trip without a single hiccup. The total mileage for the trip was just under 400 including a full lap of the historic TT course. I was accompanied by my friends on larger and newer machines. but the Bantam went everywhere they did from the Sound in the South to the Point of Ayr in the North. albeit a little more slowly.
Annoyingly. the speedo cable broke just after we set off. so I had to rely on my friends odometer to record the mileage.
Over the winter months. the engine was stripped and a full bearing and seal kit from Rex Caunt racing was fitted. I also renewed the small end bearing.
The cylinder bore and piston in the bike seemed in very good condition so I can only imagine that they have either done very little mileage or have been fitted recently. The ring end gaps measured as new.
Other new parts include:
Points. condenser. Lucas coil. coil lead and cap.
New lead acid (dry cell) battery
New front number plate and decals for the rear.
Seat has been professionally recovered with a new seat foam.
Brakes have been stripped and cleaned in a vain attempt to improve them (The shoes were all new or at least very little used). Chain and sprockets are in very good condition.
The tinware on the bike was in good condition so this has been left as is. but is more than presentable. Most of the fixtures and fittings have been replaced so there are no rusty fasteners on this bike.
The wheels have been fitted with brand new CWC chrome rims and new spokes. together with new tyres. front and rear.
6 Months MOT and 6 months (free) tax.
Log Book is present and it is registered in my name.
I set up the bike as per the manual and have been tweaking it as I go along ?ˆ“ the trip it completed is proof that the settings are as close as you could get to the optimum. The bike starts easily. often on the first kick.
I would be interested in doing a deal on a Kawasaki triple or similar 2 stroke if it helps the sale which would be conducted as per ebay policy.
The Bike is being advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to withdraw at any time if it is sold. but my intention is to leave the auction to run its course.
I have set a reserve which I feel is more than fair.
Viewing is welcome. in fact I would prefer any interested party come along and see it for themselves. but I know this is not always possible.
Please bear in mind that this little bike is over 50 years old ?ˆ“ but I honestly believe its condition belies this.
This is a genuine sale ?ˆ“ if I had the room and could hide it from the wife. I would be keeping it.
If you have any questions please message me and I will forward my contact number. If you need photo?ˆ™s of any specific parts just ask.
Bike is located in Bolton. Lancs
Thanks for looking. Brad.
