1973 Cotton Cavalier 170cc Twin-shock Trials

Here is an interesting little twin-shock Cotton trials bike dating from 1973. It is road registered with V5C doc. It is eligible for free “historic class” road tax.

The Minerelli engine sounds superb and it rides beautifully. Very lively for a 170cc and of course very light and balanced with excellent brakes etc.  

This bike has clearly had very little use. It is showing a few signs of age but none of serious usage.

It comes with V5C registration certificate. registration VHJ 433 L

The gearing is quite road-riding friendly so maybe someone was expecting to use this as a green laner or trial / trail type machine rather than an outright trials machine.

Cosmetically it is remarkably good for age. It looks to be the original paintwork. basically very sound on the frame . just a few marks. The paintwork on the tank has lifted in places but there is no sign of the tank having leaked.

Carb is a nice Del Orto and the bike will tick over nicely when warm.

Rims are very nice flangeless alloys with stainless spokes and the tyres are very good Pirelli MT60s. No splits or damage in seat. no splits in the mudguards. No fin damage or signs of dismantling at all on the engine.

This is a tidy & fun classic Cotton Cavalier in exceptionally well preserved condition!
