Description

This is a VERY rare Bultaco 198b from around 1982/3. I Believe that this was the last Bultaco model and only around 260 or so of this 250cc model are thought to have been manufactured - much less than the 340cc version. They were exported to the UK and France and never officially sold in Spain (where they were manufactured). What probably makes this particular bike stand out is that it has been in my family for around 20 years and I can honestly state that it hasn't been ridden a great deal in it's lifetime - low mileage in other words. My brother bought it about 20 years ago and was. I think. the second owner. It's condition was almost as new. He rode a few trials on the easy route. then I borrowed it and bent the gear shaft! Following that it was dismantled and never fully reassembled (but very carefully stored) until I managed to pursued him to sell it to me a couple of years ago. By then he had done much of the cosmetic work - painting and plating etc. I basically put it all back together. rebuilt the wheels and fitted new tyres (Michelin front and IRC rear). Since then I've only done a couple of practice trials and more recently the Greybeards. It runs very sweetly and rides nicely. So. rather than being a tatty bike that has been rebuilt. this is a tidy and lightly used machine that has been cosmetically refreshed. It has the odd scuff and scrape from recent use but it wouldn't take much to address this if you want to show it. rather than ride it. It has new tyres on original Akront rims with stainless spokes. Betor shocks are fitted (slight leak from one) but think I have the original shocks which would need rebuilding. I also have a proper speedo. drive and cable and a few other odds and sods. The frame and engine numbers match. Engine is: RM 19803921B. Frame: RB 19803921B. I have very reluctantly decided to sell as I'm not a good enough rider to fully exploit this bike in twinshock trials and. on the other hand. I don't want to spoil it by pottering around local trials - I'd rather ride something scruffy and not worry about the consequences! You are very welcome to view the bike - please message me. I'm not desperate to sell and believe that this bike is a bit special - so no silly offers please. These bikes rarely come up for sale so it's difficult to value. but even the really rough ones fetch quite a bit! I will consider sensible offers.
