Description
PURCHASED RECENTLY FROM ALOCALCUSHMAN COLLECTOR who bought it in 2008. In 2010 he had the motor completely rebuilt. Beyond rebuilding the engine, his scooter is pretty muchhow he bought it. I think he told me that since 2008 he had probably only put 200 miles on it. Selling because this Monday I was told that a four car garage I have been renting has been sold and I have to be gone by the end of the month. So...I have to figure out what to do with 5 cars, wo vintage boats, dump truck and a scooter. Last in, irst out.
I have been looking fora cool scooter since I sold my 1948 Whizzer. Whizzers are very cool, nd this was a factory Schwinn Whizzer that had been gone thru by Seattle's Mr. Whizzer, ut the problem with my Whizzerwas asI wouldget up to speed, t scared the crap out me. I am going along at 30mph and all I can think of is I am on an old bike with a motor on it. And sketchy brakes. So I had a Silver Eagle years ago, nd Iset out to find another Cushman. You could find a shinier bike, ut it would be tough to beat this Cushman mechanically. It starts, uns, nd brakeslike a thoroughly sorted Cushman. And with the exception of a different/new 22mm Mikuni carb, nd an upgraded exhaust pipe, t is 100% original. The tires are like new, he brake works great, he bike starts on the first or second kick, nd it goes down the road straight and true. I was excited to drive it thru the summer and then tear it down to do some powder coating, ome paint work, nd a through detail. There is not one rusted component and the scooter doesn't look like it was ever dropped. Only detraction would be a dulling paint job that was done many years ago. And the side cover has some dings but they don't detract from the appearance. In fact, he patina is even and consistent. I collectantique toys and in that world we would say ithas "even play wear". Oh...one thing it needs is either a new brake light, r a brake switch anda different air filter, t collapses as if it's not getting enough air thru the filter (see images).Everything else is in tip-top shape. Doing some research, came away with the opinion that the AllstateHighlander is a fairly scarce scooter. I don't know these guys well, ut I think I read that they took the tank off of another model and mounted it on the rear fender to differentiate the Allstate line from a regular Cushman Highlander. It sure gets the "dork award" in looks, ut that is why I like it. That and it's a great ride. The mileage shown is just something I had to put in; a mandatory box. I don’t think there has ever been a speedometer/odometer for this model of Cushman? Anyway, am not sure what else I can add. Local pickup or I would be glad to work with a shipper. If it helps, can deliver it as far south as Seattle and as far north as Mt. Vernon. And please check my other auctions, have to find space and have been trying to reduce the load. Clean title in hand. A reasonable offer will be considered. Please consider the images as part of the description.
