Description
The good: Strong 1968 VW 1600 motor with chrome trim, aloney pipes (great sound) Transaxle is good Front-end frame is jig-welded steel in good condition. The front frame bolts directly to a plate on the transaxle. New master cylinder for rear drum brakes Extra layers of glass cloth in the fiberglass body make it very rigid. Red gel coat has some scratches. A second, eavy 10”-overstock, ld-school set of extended front forks are included in the sale Originally registered in Massachusetts & has a reconstructed Vehicle VIN Number.
The bad: The front, wisted extended forks and five-spoke invader wheel you see the the "assembled trike" photos - the chrome is seriously oxidized and may not polish up Rust on the rear,VW 4-bolt steel 9” wide wheels - would need to be bead-blasted and repainted Will need new handlebars & controls (gas, ights, urn signals) No wiring harness - the trike must be re-wired Miscellaneous nuts and are bolts missing. I’m still looking for the title. I may not find it.
This could be a fun winter project if you are up for it. I’m pricing this at the value of the VW engine, ransaxle and the extended chopper forks. The other trike parts are basically thrown into the lot. An important reminder — any of the attached photos that show the trike assembled are old photos. This trike is no longer assembled and is currently in separate parts. Local pickup only.
Offered for auction is an incomplete VW trike, n parts. Built in the late 1970’s, t was driven in the 80’s, hen stored a dry garage for 33 years. Over the years it was disassembled to make more space in the garage. As stuff accumulated in the garage the wiring harness and a number of other parts were lost.
