Description

A “ONE OF A KIND” MOTORCYCLE

This bike is a custom built motorcycle designed by its Dallas owner and assembled by an experienced Montana-based motorcycle builder. It is new in every respect, ith each part except for the engine case having been built or purchased exclusively for this bike.

The engine is a 750CB case which was assembled with a crankcase and heads from three separate engines which had been X-rayed and found to be free of cracks. High points as to the engine are that it was built with all new crankshaft, onnecting rods, mm oversized pistons, haved heads, alanced components, nd oversized valves; all intakes were ported and relieved; the cylinders were bored, new high performance cam was installed; the fuel feed was maximized by fitting the engine with four oversized Keihin CR carburetors with hand-made and hand-polished aluminum flared racing air intakes; it has custom chrome exhaust pipes, ith baffles and tips made by the builder from billets of pure brass; the engine was “run-in” for approximately 10 hours; the tires were inflated to proper pressures and checked at intervals to insure that they would accommodate the weight of the finished bike at high speed without deflation; and the unpainted external engine parts were chromed, he case was painted with several coats of silver paint, nd the heads were painted General Motors redorange using heat resistant, eramic paint.

The ceramic paint has never once discolored even though the engine has now accumulated close to thirty hours time ‘in frame”. The engine starts with the touch of the starter button and runs with a high- rev, ipping, earing sound much like that of a Honda formula race car.

__________

The frame design is that of a generic soft tail motorcycle with many upgrades. High points as to the frame are that it was built exclusively from raw stock by well known frame builders, hopper One of Tulsa, klahoma who

supplied the MSO for the title; it has two 100 spoke chrome wheels, ith heavy gold plated spoke nipples, uilt by H D Wheels; it has different-sized, ustom poured whitewall tires; it has heavy duty chrome front forks fitted to the bike for size, rip, nd rake by Cycle One; the frame was lightened by drilling a series of vertically spaced holes in the swing and outside pivot arms by a mechanical engineering shop; the fenders were built by Milwaukee Steel and are strong enough for an adult to sit on without damage; the battery box was assembled and drilled by the builder who then installed a painted 12 volt maintenance free battery so that it would become a visible part of the bike; the frame was drilled in several locations to allow for wiring and the invisible installation of several components; the fuel tank was made to spec by Thompson Choppers and attached to the frame with custom brackets and the vintage aircraft fuel cap; the oval shaped orange and pinstriped oil tank, hich is part of the engine’s dry sump, as designed and built to spec by Thompson Choppers and fitted with a special cap made from a solid brass radiator cap from an old Ford pickup lathe polished to a bright shine; stainless steel oil lines were installed to transfer oil between the tank and the engine topped off with engine mounted, tainless steel heat and pressure gauges; both brakes are four-piston, ully chromed Brembo discs with chrome rotors; the foot rests, rake pedal, nd gear shift are all matched, ound polished aluminum oversized pegs milled with alternating circles of brass and chrome which match the handgrips and the twist grip throttle; the gear shifting rods are heavy chrome ground to fit each individual connection; the 8 inch oversized headlight was spun from stock aluminum and is centered between the fork tubes several inches down from the handlebars so that it’s bright orange color and large size visually balances the front of the bike against the drilled frame members and rear fender; four orange spark plug wires run forward from the battery box through four parallel polished copper tubes attached to the underside of the fuel tank from where they are evenly “flowered” onto the spark plugs; it features a custom sewn neutral colored leather seat with frame mounted brass seat springs and shocks mounted in a specially built automotive “coil-over” configuration.

The bike was finished and painted by Ortiz Custom Cycles in Denver, nationally well known custom builder who used special paints, special artist skilled in vintage pinstripe painting, nd another hired artist for special effects who created a fuel tank pictorial from a National Geographic photo of an exploding sun. The job, hich took 5 months, egan with the hand finishing of the frame with small, lectric hand grinders and polishers. Once ground and polished, everal coats of BMW automotive metallic white paint were applied to the frame, enders, nd fuel tan, nd the “red orange” color was used on the headlight, il tank, everal frame members, nd the taillights. Working simultaneous, ne artist created the “meteor” for the fuel tank, hile the other prepared a pattern of pin striping which was applied to the fenders and tanks. The bike was then returned to Montana for reassembly, olishing, nd waxing.

The bike uses chrome or brass for every fitting, nd the same mineral white and orange paint throughout.

In order to use indicators that fit with the design of the machine, t was necessary to purchase a specially built, atching analogue speedometer and tachometer. Matched spun aluminum housings with matching faces and indicator needles were used to house the instruments. The finished gauges are bolted to the handlebars and wiring for both is concealed within the frame. Since analogue gauges are no longer in production, he cost was very high and these one-of-a-kind instruments add a great deal of value to this bike; the drive chains are oversized, eavy duty, nd gold colored to fit the color scheme; the clutch and brake levers are heavy duty, rass plated, nd hand polished; the taillight is a custom built set of two small identical orange lights on each side of the rear fender which also double as directional signals; the kickstand is heavy chrome, orward swinging, nd attached to the left side. The most unusual feature is a small, ear-facing video camera installed out of sight beneath the seat, nd wired through the frame to an upward tilted screen placed between the forks just below the handlebars. Bingo! No rear view mirrors cluttering up the lines of the bike.
