As it reads in its feature in the Jan 2009 issue of V-Twin magazine, his stunning work of art was designed and fabricated for Jack Daniels in 2008 as a promotion bike, or a year of events. In 2008 this fully custom show bike was unveiled to Jack Daniels at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, here it remained on display for a couple weeks before traveling all over the United States, aking it's way into a five page feature in V-Twin magazine, nd utilized for a year of promotional events, efore returning to Las Vegas, aking one last appearance inside the 2010 SEMA show for Wizard products. This bike has also been displayed for Steve Soffa with Hardcore Watches, n Las Vegas.
After leaving Las Vegas the bike ended up at a small lake home in the middle of Southwest Missouri, here I found the bike and fell in love at first site. I had never seen such a phenomenal paint job like the one this bike wears, ncluding a fully airbrushed woodgrain frame. Till this day, still never get tired of seeing this stunning work of art, long with it's combination of the most radical components you could add to amotorcycle such as a supercharger, lass velocity stacks, ingle swingarm chopper frame, jockey shifter, nd so much more.
It took me over a year totalk the owner out ofthe bike. After Ifinally aquiredthe motorcycle, y goal was to turn this promotion bike that had set as a statue it's entire life, nto a running/functional show bike. While I think this work of art would be best used as a display in a private bar or personal collection, had to make it run, ainly because who wants to push a bike in when I can ride it. No it's never been on the highway, nd it wasn't built to go cross-country, ut I guarantee that it will stop most any person in their tracks, o matter where it's at.
When I first acquired the motorcycle in late 2014I figured $5k-$6k would finish the bike off, s it appeared to be complete. Even in the magazine article the builder spoke of how it "stopped on a dime". To my surprise, his turned into a very long, eartwo year process, f wiring, abricating, nd correcting many issues with the original build. Now with almost $20k in receipts (not including the cost of the bike), orking with a bike master for almost two years, alongwith other fabricators, ons of research and calls, he bike was finally able to ride for the first time in March 2016, uring Daytona Bike Week, here I rode it into the Boardwalk Bike Show. The bike took first in it's Radical class for the second year in a row, nd it also took home the first place trophy for people's choice, uring the largest Boardwalk show in its 28 year history, ith 147 bikes. It was a true honor to finally ride the bike into the show, hen to find out that the entire crowd of people chose this bike as their favorite, ut of almost 150 different motorcycles!'
During the (re)build we found that the only wires the bike had were the ones running the air ride suspension. The bike had no other wiring or ignition, ncorrect pistons, rong carb jets, on-functional brakes, roken shifter pawl, ear axle missing bearings, tc. The (re)builder wanted me to do so many things that would've changed the original look of the bike, ut the goal was to keep it looking like it does in all the publications, ut to make it run. He wanted to remove the blower, dd hand controls, nd raise the bike so high that it would've required a kick stand.
No expense was spared infinishing this motorcycle, einstalled onlythe best parts, o go along with the high end parts already on the bike. I have receipts for all parts added to finish the motorcycle.
Instead of removing the blower we sent it back to Magnacharger where it spent two months being gutted, hen set up specifically for this bike. They also provided the correct jets and settings, or the fully polished Mikuni HSR 42 carbs.($3,000 to keep the blower.
To bring the bikeup to ride height, ustom Cycle Controls rebuilt the SAS air ride system, nd American Suspensionextended the forks one inch, till allowing the bike to set on the frame pegs when fully slammed to the ground.
The engine was fully rebuilt with high strength parts, oss8:1 racing pistons, inion gear for the blower, all new seals, nd a fully balanced and welded flywheel. All other components were either rebuilt or replaced, ncluding all new seals throughout the bike, ully rebuilt rear axle, ew shifter pawl in the Baker OD 6 trans, ew tires, ew braided lines, rane HI-4 ignition, ipo battery, FM auto clutch, nd the hardest part of it all, he left twist front brake. The main thing that kept me off of the bike was the fact that it had no hand brake, nly a foot brake controlling both the front and rear brakes, nd it just didn't work.
To make the bike more rider friendly, e also added a hand brake to the original bars. We fabricated a custom bracket under the tank, o hold the remote brake master cylinder and reservoir, hile using the left twist to pull themaster cylinder lever with a cable. By adding the hand brake it gave me the confidence to ride the bike, nd it worked great. No hand controls were added to change the look, ut after 8 years the bike finally has a functional front brake.
On the suicide shifter is a Custom Cycle Controls "Climax hand control" which has a clutch lever and built-in master cylinder, ut the $800 EFM auto clutch is much more practical way to ride the bike while still shiftinggears using thejockey shifter. With the auto clutch the bike can be in gear, ut it wont move until the RPM's exceedthe clutch settings which engage extremely well. As you may know, hese type of clutches are used in drag bikes, nd for thismotorcycle it wasa much needed component usedto make this more rider friendly.
It took almosttwo years, nd hundreds of hours, ut I did not want to bring the bike out in the public, ntil I knew that everything was correctly finished. I've put about 5 miles on the bike, ince finishing it, o enjoy the accomplishment and make sure that everything was good to go. The bikeit fires right up and is much more comfortable to ride than it may look. I'm only 5'9" so a taller person would fit perfect. The SAS air ride actually makes it ride very nice and smooth. While in Daytona I did ride it about 1.5 miles at the speedway, ithout any issues.
To be honest, thought this would be something that I would hang onto forever, ut times have changed. I truly hate to see it go, nd ask that it goes to an owner that will care for it like it deserves. Like I mentioned, think this would be a GREAT piece of art for any collector of either motorcycles, ars, r anything else that is one-of-a-kind.
I heard Indian recently released 150 Jack Daniels edition motorcycles, hat sold out in one day. No this isn't an Indian, ut it is a piece of Jack Daniels history, nd it'sstunning combination of both beauty and beast is unlike any other custom bike you will find. This was the first and still to this day, he only fully woodgrain airbrushed bike, nd you truly have to see it in person to see for yourself just how nice it is. I don't know how many times I've been asked if it was real wood, ut that really says something about the details that went into this fully airbrushed motorcycle, ll the way down to the fine specks of Minwax stain that was "flicked" onto the paint, or a more realistic look.

Paint:Based on the Old No. 7 whiskey, ack Daniels provided the artist with a wooden whiskey casket, o give their bike its fitting look ofa distillery barrel, ncluding a lot of detail in the woodgrain and "metal" banding. Painted by an unknown House of Kolor artist in Las Vegas, his work of art has over 70 hours of airbrush work alone, ot including the tan base or other accent colors. They even used camel hair brush dipped in Minwax stain then flicked onto the paint, o help give it an unbelievable realistic look.Like I mentioned, here is over $110,000 dollars invested in this show piece, nd there's not another one like it in the world. Other's have since tried to duplicate the paint work on their bikes, ut this is the original woodgrain whisky bike, nd it will never be duplicated. This is your chance to own one of the coolest motorcycles to ever hit the show circuit, nd it's still winning first place trophies to this day. The only difference, ow you can fire it up for the crowd and hear a motorcycle sound like no other.
