Ok, here's no way I will get everything into this posting, ut I will try my best. This is going to be a long read, ut obviously necessary and I think fair to any potential buyer. First things first, f you want an economical way to have a one of a kind, adass ride that doesn't require a motorcycle license or a helmet, hen this is your ticket. I have too many toys and just don't have the time that I used to have. Man, wish I did. This is going to be the most raw, linch your butt cheeks ride in ATL when it's done. It is "mocked" to about 80% completion and there are only two "big" items left to purchase and then it can be completed. The things left to buy are specific to the person who is going to drive it, o I've stopped while I decided if I wanted to let I go. Surely there will be questions and I will be glad to answer them. Given that the "needs" list is so short, et me give a bit of explanation and then I will begin with what's needed and try to list all the new parts. A decent site to visit to get a "vibe" for the trike is go to ztrike dot com where one dude documents his build and lists common victories and failures. If you have someone who likes to "ride" but can't handle a two wheeler, r can't ride anymore due to back/neck issues, his is the perfect way to solve those problems.
I bought this in Jan 2016 as the rolling chassis of what started out as a ZTE Trike Roadster. It's a Chinese made reverse trike with a 250cc motor that couldn't make it into the country due to something with the emissions. It got stuck in Canada. A friend bought I without the motor and drivetrain, here it sat in his garage for about a year when he was told he was having to move for work. Now it's here, ike I said, ince Jan 2016. The first couple of pics are of ZTE roadsters from the manufacturer, he next couple are from a crowd in the UK who customizes them...well that's what they call it. They're not anything like this one is being configured. First of all, nderstand his, he $1k cost from the manufacturer will end up being around $5k when all the tariffs, hipping and junk fees are paid. Look at the cost of the ones in the UK, et a shipping quote and you'll quickly appreciate the price of mine. So there's no title actively on the chassis, espite it having a VIN number on it. That VIN wouldn't import here. I was going to get a custom builder friend of mine to provide a VIN as a "custom build" which shouldn't be hard to do for a fee, f course. Check with your state. I will provide a bill of sale and paper trail from original owner to you. My insurance quote from Geico was less than my Ducati's annual cost. My goal was to have something as fun as a T-Rex that didn't cost $80k, hat would run circles around a Polaris Slingshot that cost $26k and would be as fun as it is scary to drive. this will undoubtedly be all of that.
What's needed. The only two "big" items left to purchase are the reverse "gearbox" and the seats. There are rougly 8 options on the gearbox, he one I was going to use runs around $1400 and is out of the UK. I will provide the buyer all of my research on each as each has it pros and cons. That needs to be done before mocking up the rest of the drivetrain can be completed. You'll see that I have one "racing" seat in the pics, hat I bought as a "dummy" seat to obtain measurements. Seats are obviously specific to the driver, o it makes no sense for me to get any unless I keep it. I was going to use carbon fiber "Bride" seats as they are slightly narrower in the bottom, et have deep bolsters to hold you in the seat. With this thing likely pushing 1.5g in a good corner, seat will be extremely diver specific. Sure there are odds and ends left to get, ut the vitals are purchased and included.
What's here and included? Everything that came stock, inus the motor, ransmission and exhaust is gone.
MOTOR/DRIVETRAIN/BRAKES/STEERING: The motor has been replaced with an 07' GSX-R750 motor (wih 7k mi), ranny, CU and complete wiring harness including all switches. All of these are from the same donor bike. There's a -2 rear sprocket and the front is still stock, ut obviously can be made to what you want. Depending on the reverse gear chosen, t may go in-between the motor and the rear sprocket, hich will allow for more customized and purposeful gearing to make this thing hit 60mph in around 3sec or top out at 190mph or so. Now you're starting to get my drift, ight. The front brakes are OEM on pretty small rotors and I've bought a triple chrome 4-piston "sprotor" for the rear. The mechanism for a parking brake is still in the chassis. Steering setup can be seen in the pics and the I've bought an F1 style 13" wheel with a Sparco quick detach as seen in the pics. You'll want if off to get in and out and the F1 style in a smaller diameter will make handling much, uch better. The front suspension is fully adjustable, ith the shocks mounted as seen in the pics. The rear suspension will need to be remounted once the reverse gear is decided on. I have a chromed, ustom made rear axle and more than twice as many chrome spacer. also mid-shaft guides with all new bearings that have not been packed r installed.
The OEM chassis setup is essentially a car from the front to the engine bay behind the seats, ith a swingarm just like a motorcycle in the rear. Two shocks up front and two in the back OEM. Given the gross imbalance of weight to HP with the GSXR motor, was mounting the motor on the swingarm itself to put all the weight possible on the rear wheel. The OEM wheels/tires (14") were upgraded, o say the least. The front now has 17X8 XXR Hypersilver alloy wheels wrapped with Toyo Extensa HP 245/45/17s and the rear is a custom built triple chromed TWIN SPOKE 18/10.5 wheel with a Pirelli P-Zero 295/30ZR18. Due to the geometry and trying to put the motor on the swingarm for weight, also have "regular" billet GSXR swingarm "extenders" which allow for the larger wheel and for the length to be a bit more practical. Perhaps a bit over the top, ut $1500 in wheels and tires alone seems a small price to pay to out handle a Corvette in the curves and to put power to the road without spinning the rear wheel so you can do 0-60 in under 3sec. I have the OEM 07 GSXR 750 ECU and was going to add the "Tuneboy" upgrades which provide traction control, aunch control and increased rev limiter (tons of other benefits too) for hardly any more expense.
Motor/Engine Bay: OEM on the chassis has 3 separate decent sized radiators. I also have an OEM GSXR radiator. The chassis ones are made and mounted such that they utilize open "vents" in the body panels for cooling. I don't know if the GSXR waterpump will circulate the 3 chassis radiators or if, t the last minute, he GSXR one will be required. A custom "mid-pipe" will be needed to go from the exhaust header to the newly purchased Coffman "shorty" slip-on made for this bike specifically. It doesn't require a hanger and is a deep, ich sound. Nothing like the typical sportbike (with the baffle out). this is a rebuildable muffler. there is tons of space behind the "firewall", ehind the seats hat could be used in any way you wish. Storage accessible from behind the seats is what I was going to do.
The interior: seats I've mentioned. The one I have comes with the trike. The OEM "dash" is still present, ut I have bought a programmable Speedo/Tach/All Warning Lights/Programmable shift light to be used as seen I the pics. Pedals are in the trike and mounted already (gas, rake and clutch) as well as a "hand" shifter mounted and cabled in the floor as came OEM. this will work fine. I was going to use the Tuneboy ECU rapid shift function and add an air shifter to simple paddles, o you could shift with "paddles" or by hand. Again, ardly an expense considering. Ignition, urn, nd all other relevant switches are included in the GSXR wiring harness. These could be customized however you wish. I bought a pure Bluetooth marine grade receiver that I ended up putting in a boat. Audio is wide open. Plenty of spac, ut I'd stick with pure Bluetooth, ut your call. I was going to remove the roll bar you see in the pics and fab a "bikini" top which would not be much trouble at all. In the pics you see one 50 Caliber 5-point racing harness. I bought one to see if I like it. It is NRHA certified and is VERY comfortable. It's heavy, hich is part of the safety, ut if you like it I will get you the vendor info. If not, ell it. I's worth about $125, lone. Floorpans need to be put into the chassis once seat decision is made. OEM gas tank is present and I already have a GSXR fuel pump fitted into it.
Exterior/Lights: All body panels are present and fiberglass. I've mess around with several paints, el coats, inyl wraps to see what I wanted to do. minimal body work is needed, f anything other than prep. The body vents are covered with plastic, have chrome mesh to put in place of the plastic. Front lights are LED and work, urn signals up front and rear are incandescent as well as rear brake/run. All are present and operational. I was going to put 2, " LED "cube" lights on the hood perhaps, o help with visibility. The OEM front fenders are present, ut they do not fit around the upgrades.
I think that's close. There's probably between $2k-$4k left to spend, hich is totally dependent on taste and name brand. This thing will without any doubt run circles around a slingshot at $26k and wouldn't get embarrassed by a T-Rex despite costing $83k less. My price is less than what I have in it and surely less than the market. A simple rolling chassis on ebay with nothing else runs $5k. built, his would probably bring $13-15k without much trouble.
It is for sale locally, ence I reserve the right to end the auction. Only after I give the highest bidder the chance to purchase the trike at the price of the local offer. This is the only way I can think to be fair to all potential buyers and to myself. No secrets and nothing to hide I've sold several bikes on eBay and not had anything less than perfect responses from buyers.
thanks for reading.
