Up for sale is a 1977 XS650 2” stretched hard tail with a unique blend of XS and Harley parts. The bike includes Harley spoke rims on the front (19”) and rear (16”). Sportster peanut tank. HD coil. Harley front and rear disks (front is chromed and drilled). spiked axles. custom made forward controls. headlight mount. handlebar risers with a drag bar. and seat (with solo shock/spring) and hand stitched leather cover. The headers are custom made Gordon Scott curved drag pipes wrapped in a bronze header wrap and they fit perfectly within the stretch. They are angled down and out. The bike features a white with blue pinstripe paint scheme on a brown frame. There is a half fender on the rear and no front fender - the forks are shaved and polished. All of the aluminum on the engine including the carb covers are polished. Electronics are minimal - PAMCO ignition. headlight. and cats eye tail/tag/brake light. The battery is from an emergency light system found in most buildings - the size of a deck of cards. The fuse box was re-purposed from a steel CD storage box. The battery. fuses and ignition switch are in the box. The wiring harness runs through the frame. There is no speedometer or odometer. The mileage when purchased was approximately 12000 miles and I have ridden it less than 1000 miles. The disk brakes are controlled by a dual front brake master cylinder via the front hand brake and stainless steel lines. There is NO rear brake pedal/lever. The braking system could use a proportioning valve to control the pressure to the rear caliber for optimal stopping power. Nearly every part is new including tires. tapered needle bearings. brakes. easy pull clutch cable. chain. and electronics. The carbs have been rebuilt with the Premium BS34 Jet Kit from 650Central (#CCEN14-1160) but need a bit of tweaking on the jets/adjustment of the floats. Extra jets are included along with other parts. It typically starts on the second or third kick (kick start only) and runs strong. I am selling the bike because I NEVER ride it and it deserves to be ridden and appreciated. If you have any questions please ask. The buyer is responsible for local pickup (Silver Spring. MD) or shipping. This bike is being sold as is and there are no warranties or guarantees.
On Jan-20-15 at 13:08:46 PST. seller added the following information:Update - This bike was tagged as a historic vehicle in Maryland. There is no safety inspection required for historical vehicles in Maryland. As mentioned. the electronics/electrical system is minimal. There are no turn signals. horn. speedometer/odometer. or front fender. It is kick start only although the starter is still on the motor. These items could be installed (or made operational) on the motorcycle by the buyer if they are required to title and tag it in your state. Also. in the sunlight I noticed some lines in the clear coat (I believe) on the tank near the bottom close to the seat and on/off switch (seventh picture). It is not flaking or peeling and they are hardly noticeable except when looking at it at the right angle and with the sun. I tried taking a picture of the spot but they do not come out in pictures. I have never seen them before so I don't know if that is how was when I got it or not.
