Here is my Ducati 996 in SP spec. it has a genuine 5079 miles on the clock due to residing in a private museum for over ten years.
It now spends most of the time in a warm garage with a velvet cover over it and it has never been out in the rain. certainly in the last eleven years.
The history begins six months after registration when it fell over (probably down to the suicide flick up side stand. now modified) causing I was told. minor cosmetic damage but because it was almost new it was classified as a cat d. ( HPI report included in book pack) It was then purchased by the second owner who I assume must have replaced any damaged panels and then the transformation to the current SP specification was progressively carried out right up to my purchase in March 14.
All original black plastic panels have been replaced with carbon fibre including clutch cover. front mudguard. hugger/chain guard. heel guards. fillet panels. rear number plate holder and seat under tray. It also boasts a polished top yolk. clear race double bubble screen. SP seat unit. Ohlins steering damper and rear shock. quick release fuel filler plus colour coordinated mirrors. two ignition keys and the obligatory 50mm Termignoni exhaust with carbon fibre silencers completing this outstanding package.
(I have most of the original parts to go with the bike).
The paintwork is almost blemish free and along with the moto graphic front number board this machine really stood out from the crowd. I just had to have it.
I bought it from a main dealer early last year ( March 14) and prior to my purchase they gave it a full service and replaced the belts. tyres all fluids new plugs and coils and the battery. balanced the throttle bodies and checked the timing and fuel mixture. fitted a new tank low level sensor and had it MOT'd (which it passed easily with only one advisory for a “noisy exhaust”. those 50mm Termis. doh!!
I purchased a race chip from Coventry Ducati and had it fitted and set up by our local Ducati guru who now looks after the bike when required. (The termi chip goes with the bike also).
My reason for selling is due to the very nature and state of tuning of this machine. it being a race bike with number plates you cannot expect to go to it and ride away like you can with a Japanese bike. It needs properly warming up and even then it is not easy to ride slowly as it occasionally misfires and snatches at revs between 1500RPM and 3000 rpm and in town you use the clutch a great deal even in first gear which is very tall. add to this the riding position and I am in need of a chiropractor after 30 miles (guess I am getting old). If however you can ignore all that. give it its head on a twisty A road and a nice day and the grin factor is something else. it goes like stink and corners as if on rails. Park it up and it attracts admirers like a fashion model.
Prior to purchase. nbsp; I enquired with my insurer about insuring the bike due to its history. nbsp;they stated that due to the time interval since the incident it now has no bearing on the insurance so I went ahead with the purchase and it is now insured for ?6495.
This is a no reserve auction. viewing highly recommended as it looks even better than the pictures. I would expect an instant deposit on close of auction via pay pal for ?200 and cash on collection or bank transfer prior to collection. Should these conditions not be met it will be offered to the next highest bidder.
Please read the description fully as I think most questions are answered there. this bike needs a good home where someone will use it to its potential and enjoy.
Telephone: 01647 221575. Offers considered as it is advertised else where under "offers" and I reserve the right to withdraw at any time prior to auction end should it sell.
