Ducati 851 desmo Italian classic superbike

Ducati 851 Classic Desmo V Twin

Based on 1991 851 DS. genuine under 14K miles on the original Strada engine with stage one tune and SP upgrades.

This model year has Showa USD forks. Ohlins rear shock and the aluminium fuel tank.

This motorcycle is in very good condition cosmetically and mechanically with low mileage indicated. it is also now becoming collectable as a classic. being the original watercooled. 4 valve desmodromic Vee Twin which transformed  Ducati's race winning record.

Special features include –

Carbon fibre front mudguard. and rear hugger. all braided hydraulic lines. custom billet hangers and Tarrozi rearsets. single seat and modified number/electrics pan. silicon coolant hoses. special one-off vented clutch cover and many other parts in alloy or stainless. modified airbox with K&N filter. span adjustable levers.

Extra special features include—

SP rear subframe. Factory Corsa 54mm exhaust system with genuine fully rebuilt  Termignoni Daytona ‘silencers’ and 50mm Corsa ‘nest of vipers’ pipe system. upgraded ECU chip and oil cooler (as SP).

AP six pot race callipers with matched AP cast iron fully floating front discs.

Note – these parts alone would now cost over ?4k to buy new.

 During my 10yr ownership the motor has had regular belt changes. steering head bearing replacement. new sprag clutch. drive clutch  overhaul and upgrade including slave cylinder. new rear brake disc and slave cylinder. rectifier. battery and carrier. plugs. fuel pipes. etc. plus paintwork.

Recently the front brakes have been overhauled and forks checked over with new seals fitted and fluids.

Currently fitted with Pirelli Diablos. original fairing panels. full lighting. indicators etc. for general use. just had 12month full MOT. See first 4 pictures

See extra pictures showing pattern race fairings and seat unit set up for track day use. also used in this format on a daytime only MOT for road use until recently. These are now included in the sale provided the reserve is met.

nb Only ever used for one track day as 65th birthday present from the kids. not really my scene anymore!

Bike comes with a number of spares. work shop manual. books and brochures. etc. MOT history to verify mileage since purchase in 2004.

Servicing has been carried out by local Ducati specialists over the years of my ownership.
