Description
This Ducati was built as my everyday rider in the late 1990s. The basis of the project is a 1975 860GT. I located the one piece tank/seat and designed the bike around the 1978 Isle of Man race bike. It is not, or has it ever been raced.
There are no NCR parts on this bike. Not even the decals. All of the aluminum parts were hand fabricated by a tool and die maker retired from Vickers. He was the man the engineers came to when their design didn’t work. The decals were provided by Steve Winn of Manchester, England. It was he who campaigned the Ducatis with Mike Hailwood as rider. The modifications include: Hand made rear sets and controls Hand made brake mounting, ront and rear Dual front disc brakes Rear disc brake Brembo brake calipers, ads and hardware Stainless steel brake lines Stainless steel fasteners LUCAS Rita electronic ignition as raced at the Isle of Man17” alloy wheels allow the fitting of modern tires
40mm Del Orto carburetors, ecently overhauled
Custom made suede leather seat
Koni shocks
And a bunch of other stuff which I can no longer remember…
Pay no attention to the odometer. It’s English. Bike likely has 20,000 miles. I rode it a lot.
It is excellent running condition.
This is not an around town bike. It was built for mountain roads with a competent rider. If you’re under 6 feet tall, his bike will not fit you.
I’m 65 and no longer bend around the frame. It’s only jewelry for me. Maybe someone else will enjoy it as much as I have. If you don’t want to be noticed everywhere you go; don’t bid on this bike. Also published at eBay.com
