Description

Here is your opportunity to build one of the most iconic Ducati motorcycles of all time-the 450 Desmo. Please read the description closely to understand this project bike completely, don't want to mislead any potential buyers. This roller as you see it is a conglomeration of parts found over the last ten years. Everything need restoration and can be assumed to be in not-working condition EXCEPT the ENGINE. It has been refreshed and is running (I will give details further down the page). The Frame is correct 450, ut has no tabs or brackets for the bodywork, hose will need to be fabricated. Suspension and wheels need rebuilt/restored. The rear wheel needs the correct axle and sprocket. This is a project, ou may come accross other issues...be aware. The bodywork is from Disco Volante. Dunstall replica muffler is included as well. The year listed in the auction title is a random guess...see the vin numbers of the engine and research it for a better idea. The engine was purchased from Dave Chrone at Ducati Phoenix. The motor had some work done before he got it, ncluding a big bore Venolia piston and apparently a slight stroker kit (there is about a 1/4 inch spacer under the barrel. The assumption is these mods created a full 500cc machine. He did the following work on it: -Ported/Polished Head -Machined second spark plug -3 Angle valve job -Lightened Brass Flywheel, or quick revs, ut not too light to make starting difficult -92mm (over 86mm stock) Venolia Piston cleaned and inspected (pic included in auction) -Re-honed Bore -Total Loss ignition set up -Ignition timed -Desmo valve train disassembled and inspected -Valve clearances adjusted -Motor Ran/tested-Transmission-all gears gone through There are a few chips on the fins on the front of the sump, ut otherwise the motor is ready to go!!!! Please ask any questions you may have. It's a great set of "bones," but just assume it needs a lot of work!!!! Obviously it does!!!! This is a PROJECT BIKE with NO PAPERWORK. A title can be obtained from your local DMV. Once completed you will have something very, ery special!!!!!
