2002 Limited Edition DUCATI 748s Monoposto w/ 996 Engine Swap We are selling a RARE 2002 DUCATI 748s Superbike!!!NOT your normal Ducati 748 Superbike. This model is the VERY sought after "Limited Edition" - 2002 748 Type-S model. The Ducati Superbike 748s was packed with features normally found only on full race bikes. The fully adjustable Showa forks with TiN anti-friction treatment were matched with a rising rate rear suspension with damping handled by a fully adjustable Showa rear shock. The exclusive Ducati adjustable rake trellis frame allows you to customize the handling of the 748s to your riding style. Lightweight Marchesini wheels are an expensive accessory on most other bikes. but were standard on the S version. Quick release Dzus fairing fasteners and lighter Dual Brembo 320mm semi-floating front brake discs with aluminum carriers further define the 748s. BUT. for 2002 (the last production year for the 748). the 748s was available in Ducati's most radical colors: titanium gray fairings with a Metaillic Titanium powder coated frame on Red Marchesini wheels. ONLY 250 of the Limited Edition titanium gray bikes were produced WORLDWIDE. and ONLY 200 were imported to the US. (this is 1 of them) Now a quick Run down memory lane. (please read)
The original owner purchased the bike cash at zero miles from Eximport Cycles in the year 2002.
In the year 2003 the new body style was. and the owner traded in for the new body style.
Subsequently thereafter. I purchased the bike from Eximport Cycles and I was pleased with the bike. but wanted a more unique color.
MY objection in painting & upgrading parts was to give it a rich and bright color. yet still appear Ducati factory.
Here is a list of Upgrades I added as well as the paint details.
1. ) Termignoni dual exhaust (carbon fiber)
2. ) Carbon fiber guards through out. (foot guards / exhaust pipe guard/ chain guard / swing-arm guard (all carbon fiber)
3. ) SARGENT custom seat/saddle (carbon fiber skelly insert. Super atomic foam padding wrapped in carbon textured leather)
4. ) Speedy Moto aluminum dry race clutch cover
5. ) Paint job - House of Kolor Candy Cobalt blue. (Candy color = three+ layer paint starting w/ a Silver base coat. multiple cobalt blue candy coats topped with lacquer clear). Factory Ducati 748s decals were also clear coated. (additional stickers are Not permanent & can be removed)
FAST Forward to 2008 my brother purchased the Superbike & added his own persona---> (please read)Long story short. (Alex Toni. nbsp;not only from Italy but worked in the Ducati Factory developing and testing their engines)Alex Toni/Mototek Ducati-Austin swapped out the original 748cc engine in favor of a More Potent 996cc crate motor. A True "Werewolf in wolves clothing". NO expense spared. Swap Labor ALONE with necessary parts totaled $2200+ (This does Not include the price & shipping of the 996 crate motor. ). (see receipts)Ever Since. the Beast has Only been serviced at Ducati-Austin. He paid $225 for each MOTUL oil change since the Swap (see receipts). 2010 came around & my brother was not happy with the powercommander & Added an FBF (Fast by Ferracci) EPROM chip.
