Ducati 500 GTL

 1977 Ducati 500cc GTL.   It looks together but its not !  I bought the bike roughly 10 years ago.   The motor was frozen.   It had a title when I bought but I can?ˆ™t find it now.   I restore old Ferrari cars but love Italian bikes.   I took it all apart.   I believe the miles on it are correct. It had been left out and got water in it. both Carburetors were frozen up as well as both pistons.   I got it apart without damage and was planning to make it all better.   I powder coated the wheels. fitted new tires. freed up both front calipers. honed the cylinders and fixed both carburetors. There is a corrosion mark in the cylinders that will not clean up so it needs to be rebored or re-sleeved.   The motor. with the exception of the cylinder the bores is in excellent shape. lower end is great. the head is good with no water damage. valves need doing but are OK. The valve guides feel great.   I put it all back together to show its all there. it has no rings on the pistons. I left the timing chain off it but everything for motor is all there. It selects all the gears OK.   It had no battery when I bought it and its missing the two GTL side covers. It?ˆ™s a great project for some enthusiast. I bought it in Northern California but the last tags it had on it were from March 1980 from Texas. Its a local pick up item.
